John Stones transfer saga

I'm just not sure how Chelsea is supposed to react to this part:

“The other side is the disappointment in seeing a football club making it (the bid for Stones) so open, I don’t think that is the way we do it at Everton.

“We don’t speak about a player when he is registered at another club and there is no issue from our point of view – John Stones is an Everton player full stop. We are not a selling club in that respect."

It could just be a cultural difference, though. If that happened over here you'd have to start making immediate plans for a drive-by shooting to reclaim your pride.

Agree to disagree, then? ;)
He hasn't lied.

If Chelsea don't like having it told to them like it is, tough.

Who is arsed how Chelsea reacts?

Chelsea are only trying to disrupt the lad with these 'bids' in the press. Martinez has told them where to shove them..as he has every right to do.
They want to make a proper bid, do it to the club that owns the player, not the media...and make sure it's a massive one or you'll be told to shove that too.

Maybe they'll bid 15 mil next time.

So it wasnt a formal bid then?? How come we turned it down then? Or didnt we, the papers did??

Bit baffled.

Being firm in telling Chelsea a player is not for sale is fine, but I don't see the benefit to calling out Chelsea's business practices through the media. There's a difference in standing up to a bully and antagonizing him. One makes you look tough, the other makes you look petty.

There is also this small matter: Chelsea can offer Stones a contract big enough to make him forget how to spell Everton.

They could offer that contract no matter what our manager says. Also another small matter, he's contracted to everton who doesn't need to sell

He's saying we would not speak of a player at another club but Chelsea havent made any comments about being interested in Stones so i dont understand that bit.

I think some of our fans appreciated the fact that he said that out loud.

I know I did.

The fact Martinez has came out and said all this, suggests to me, in my opinion, that it may be turning his head already. Understandly, you can't blame the lad, but if he does leave, i think he'll be making a huge mistake. Guaranteed first team football, and the best place to develop his game.

However, i do think he's a sensible lad, well he comes across that way anyway, so i'm sure he won't be in any rush to leave.
