John Stones

@GaryLineker: Ah John Stones makes his debut. A sign that there are still concerns over Phil Jones' fitness. I think Stones will prove a better player...

And there lies Linekers crap prediction. He thinks Stones will be a better player Hahaha No doubt in my mind and all of us who have seen him know this lad is an absolute Rolls Royce of a player, as good as anyone will have seen for England in a very very very long time.

He looked really pleased to be getting on the pitch, refreshing in today's age of millionaire young footballers.

Proud that he's a blue.

He must be on top of the moon. From Barnsley, to being boss at Everton and all of the plaudits that came with it, to getting his first England cap, all withing 18 months ish. Made up for him.

Tbf on Lineker (and I admit I may be biased given my username) think he has always been v complimentary about Stones but he more than most will have known the danger of bigging up a young player on a few good appearances only for him to fall flat.

But the thing that has me convinved about Stones is less his ability than his mentality - he's got the self confidence to not be fazed when he makes a mistake but the sense to work hard on correcting them

must make a massive difference to have that kind of faith shown in you at such a young age too, breeds confidence

can only be a good thing for him, and us, and England too I suppose
