It's not that he's been letting him down so much as he hasn't been bailing Jagielka out in the way we're accustomed to.

Think about Cahill's goal-line clearance where Jagielka stopped and raised his arm. I recall that happening many times last season but Distin comfortably recovered and swept up the ball. I'm convinced the Distin of last season would have comfortably stolen the ball from Costa, even though I don't think most centre backs do.

So it'snot that Distin is letting him down, Jagielka is just used to a certain style of play because Distin has almost always been good enough to save Jagielka if he makes a mistake.

Yeah, it must do. He looks about 12, but also seems to see the game almost in slow motion. Head up, looking around. Small things, but important.

....we have to accept that there will be mistakes but the boy could be very special. England playing him RB is a reflection of what he must be like in training at that level.
