John Stones

One of the best young CB's I've ever seen, he will be without doubt a top top player for the next 15 years.

England's best a formality, on the ball he has no equal, he glides out of defence.

He was signed by our EX in 2013 at which time he was 18. The way Jags and Distin were playing then how could our EX have given him a chance. You make it sound like it was all down to RM which it was not. Our EX seen in John what was great and signed him up on a long contract.
Martinez wanted to sign him for Wigan, but he chose us which is understandable, we have a very good academy and obviously are the better club.

He was always going to be a centre back even at Barnsley, he just started out a right back when he first broke into the first team so any mistakes he made wouldn't be as costly as they would at centre back, as a 18 year old he needed protection until he'd gained experience that's all, once his confidence had grown he was always going to move over. We're doing the same now with a young kid called Mason Holgate he's only 18 with a hand full of first team games to his name, he's always been a centre back in the under 18s but his first team appearances have been at right back, until yesterday when he played central once our centre back got injured and was superb, he'll do the same as what Stones did he'll leave for a premier league club and be classed as a right back but really he's always going to be a world class centre back.

Get in there RM!

It's rather embarrassing that our defence relies on a twenty year old lad, with relatively little experience at the highest level, to be secure.

Without him we look a different team at the back. It highlights actually how good he actually is!
Its more amazing that England needed him as well. Wish we had ten other players like him. We certainly looked stronger at the Back against city than we have done for a while.

.......difficult one, Ratcliffe was underwhelming when he first came in as full back but then really found his niche in central defence. TG is one I'm told was special but before my time. Probably Ratcliffe but John Hurst or Labone might've been a good partner for Stones.

Interesting what others think.

If he's stayed, I would have Martin Keown in the mix and perhaps Richard Gough.
Never saw Labone in the flesh (too young!) so ultimately would be Rats for me

Easily the one player I am most concerned about a huge bid being tabled for. Said it previously, the £3million paid for Stones could end up a reasonable comparrison with the £90k for Coleman.

HE'S LONG
HE'S TALL
HE'S GORGEOUS ON THE BALL

to be fair the Barnsley guy's had total confidence John would become an England player and you were right. Glad you have another potential superstar, hope you get to a few years out of him before the vultures circle.

Do not get me wrong, it's not a bad form of embarrassment. However, I still think it is still somewhat embarrassing.

A player of his age shouldn't be so influential in a team like Everton, although I am glad he is.

Harry Kane's only 21 mate. Where would Spuds be this season without him ?
If they're good enough, they're old enough
