I know it's the Stones thread, but wow McCarthy is absolutely shattered. Looks like he ran a marathon.

And I believe I am "made up" for Stones and his first goal. Although I don't understand what lipstick has to do with it... I put it on anyway.

I dont take that point back, tbh. He isn't a dominant force at CB which is why I hope the first player through the door is a good organiser, physically dominant and who can play the ball out from the back.

Stones is a classy player. There's no question about that, but he's nowhere near the force he'll become after adding more authority to his game (which wont be helped playing alongside Jagielka).

I think my main point about Stones was that he was more suited further forward - and given time he could become a great CM. He has everything for the role. He's a Martinez type CB and I doubt he'd be as influential as he is slotted into the back line of other PL teams who are almost wholly dependent on brawn over brains. But of course he's doing a very good job for us there at the moment.

I normally say all players have a price, but this is just not the case with John Stones. He is invaluable, and we need to keep him at all costs. We need to build a team around him for years to come, selling him would be criminal! All serious teams have ace centre backs, so we need to keep him if we want to be a serious team.

Spot on, yes this season has been a disaster but there are foundations, with Stones, Barkley, Lukaku, Browning, Garbutt, etc., for a very good young side that will play with no fear.

Fingers crossed we can easily deflect the obvious summer media plan of attack and he does not get his head turned.
