I was just putting you right as you got a few facts wrong
And you got another one wrong
About the Spurs game
You said moyes played him in his favourite position
He actually played on the left wing
And was taken off 10mins into the 2nd half
You seemed to be saying moyes was giving Barkley games at 16/17

When in reality he wasn't

My point is Moyes gave Barkley a chance at a young age. Some people think not enough of a chance but I think given his inconsistencies in the last two seasons Moyes probably judged it right with him at that age coming back from injury with the options we already had in midfield.

Also making the point that Martinez is not giving a chance to anyone of the age Barkley was when Moyes gave him his chance. The youngsters Martinez has given consistent games to are Stones and Barkley both 20. Green is already 19, Browning is the same age as Stones but neither have had decent game time nor have Long McCaleny Ledson or Lundstram (yes I realise not all if any might make it) . Rodwell was in at 17, Gosling at 19.

Moyes may not have played Stones but in my eyes Martinez is not giving our youth any more of a chance than Moyes did.

While I agree to some parts of your posts
I think you need to look at the squads we had under moyes from say 2004 to 2010

Which were very weak
And we always seemed to have teenagers on the bench
Abd if we got injuries
We would have a full bench of kids every weak

So the likes of gosling Rodwell were getting game time

Put 19yr old gosling in the squad we have know
Even with 5/6 injuries he would struggle to make the bench

Moyes gave Jose Baxter & James Vaughan their debuts at 16
There was a spell for 3/4 yrs when Vaughan and anichebe
As teenagers were our 3rd and 4th choice strikers
And with injuries to yakubu Andy Johnson & Saha
They would move up the pecking order

Let's not forget that season where we had no fit strikers for what seemed like months

But you look at moyes's squads in his last 2 yrs much stronger
And not many kids got a lookin

Like now
Arguably this in our strongest squad in the premiership

You have mentioned lundstrum
A few times
He stank the place out at Blackpool on loan sadly the lad is nowhere near could enough
Abd will do well to have a career in division 2

The other think I would say which doesn't help martinez
Is apart from garbutt, maybe browning personally I don't think he's good enough for us
And Chris long? The other 20/21 year olds aren't good enough

But we do have a lot of very good 16/17/18 yrs olds
Who I think martinez will start using in the next couple of years

Poetic.

Barkley made his debut at 17
He was on the bench at 16
Right at the end of one season

Then got injured at the start of the next season in September
Recovered to make his debut 1st game of the following season against QPR which I think was season 11/12

The Spurs and arsenal games were at the end of the 12/13 season moyes's last in charge
After barkleys loan spell at shef wed & Leeds and he was 19

The arsenal game was about 7/8 games from the end of the season
We still had an outside chance of top 4
Barkley played as osman was injured and was our MOM.

The next game Was away at Sunderland and osman was brought back in for Ross
We lost 1-0 and are slim champions league place was gone
But osman kept his place for the next game

I could but wrong but I don't think Barkley played one minute of the remaining games even though we didn't have much to play for

Even moyes's last game in charge at Chelsea we couldn't move up or down no matter what the result
And he still didn't give any young players a game

I'm sure at 1-1 he took of an attacker for a defender and Torres scored late on for 2-1

Even in his last game having never won at a top fours ground
He's still trying to hang on for a point
That Sums him up

I don't get these poems

I don't get Shakespeare either your poems must be boss

I see in Howie's Echo column, Stones is being likened to Beckenbaur, some praise that but a couple more years to go.

Incidentally the signing of Stones was the last transfer deal done by our EX! I think.

To the tune of Annie Lennox:

dubba-dubba-dub-dub-dub.... JOHN STONES (repeat)

(might possibly be meant for the p*ssed thread)

.....Moyes is on record expressing concerns about Barkley's lack of responsibility without the ball. He liked his players to do their bit when the opposition had possession.

And have we not seen that this season? His laziness off the ball has been one of the many negatives of the season. I would hope all players should do their bit off the ball. It's this stigma around defensive work in the league which is why Chelsea will win and everyone else are miles behind. From one to 11 they all buy in to defending. Other managers create ridiculous systems so the likes of Barkley and co. don't have to do any work.
