The thing is he knows he had a stinker on Saturday, I never saw any of the Villa game so last time I saw him play was against Utd, on Sunday I saw him outside the ticket office at Oakwell, I spoke to him for a few minutes as we walked towards the turnstiles, i commented on his display against United, and how good it was to see him score, and wished him luck going forward with his career, and told that we're proud of him, his reply was you wouldn't have been proud had you seen yesterday's game, pulled a shocked face, and said at my age your always learning and improving and after yesterday it's a good job because ive a lot of that to do
boss. awesome to see players, especially young players like Stones, it take responsibility- shows he has the right mentality to be great

The big weakness he currently has is against Big strong centre forward (ah la Benteke). This is as much down to his youth as anything else as he is yet to really "fill out" into his shape. I wasn't surprised to see Benteke give him a hard time. Lets be honest though, in his current form Benteke would give a lot of centre halves a hard time.

The way he has marked players of the calibre of Rooney, Van Persie, Falcao etc out of games shows the potential the lad has. He has a supreme confidence and obviously a very high expectation of himself. He just needs to bulk out a bit.

I think having a player like Barry could give more freedom for Stones to stride out because he knows that Barry or whoever is there to cover.
This is absolutely correct, both Jags and Stones are able to get forward way more often when Barry drops back in between the centre halves.

Stones is probably good enough with a ball at his feet to be a defensive midfielder, but he's on course to become a world class centre half so why would we change that?

Agree, think he deals with pace and technical forwards pretty well, it's definitely against units that he struggles. Think Martinez' biggest challenge this summer is finding him the partner to mitigate his weaknesses and complete the back four for next season.

Which should be;

Coleman Stones ?????? Garbutt
