Echo reporting that the club are no way selling Stones, and they value him at more than Mangala's £32m currently too.

The conversation with the lad will be 'Stay here at least til your mid-20s and captain the club for a season or two and realise your potential. Then, if you want, we can sell you for insane money to one of the top four or five clubs in the world.'

That's the ideal, the worry is he say 'nah you're alright, I'll take the big money from now until the end of my career'

The Stones to United story was written by a North East journo, no idea how he's got a scoop about two North West Clubs like. No idea why the Echo are coming out with that Story either.

United probably do want him, but they're definitely one of a number that do. The lad isnt going anywhere this Summer, but in reality, like Lukaku, we've probably got one more season left of him bossing things from the back.

Stones seems to be a rarity these days in that he has his head screwed on.

He knows he's still learning and that he's in the right place at the moment. Ideally thr club would grow round him, but, if not, he'll be able to pick and choose in a few years time.

That's what I hope as I agree with an earlier post, losing him would be similar to losing Rooney (all things considered including fans expectancy at end of 03/04) and that's not only because of his quality on the pitch but also because he seems like a top top lad off it also.

This seems to be a new thing where the Echo come out and quash any story about our players before it has the chance to spread. IIRC they did the same thing about Lukaku or someone a few weeks ago.

So I take it this is what you want to happen...

Why would i want our best two talents, two of the best youngsters in World Football to leave?
The state our Club is in, the fact we dont challenge for anything, the fact we lose significance season upon season, why would they want to be here?

If he continues improving like we know he can, I could honestly see him going to Barca to replace Piqué in 4/5 years.

Barca were linked with him last Summer mate, so if he stays here next season (which he will) he'll progress further and Barca wont have a transfer ban. He can be their centre back for over a decade.
