Both or just one?

Its hard to say, clearly this is conjecture and im bad minded at the best of times with regards us selling players, the reality is most of the time it doesnt happen, I was convinced Baines was gone last Summer.

City have a need for homegrown players, we have some very talented young English players, I look around the league and I struggle to see any others that would interest City, Barkley is full of potential, hes had a poor season, by his own standards, but ive seen enough to know hes a talented boy. We have a desire for cash, we need 4 players currently, City have cash coming out of their anus.

John Stones is a superb footballer, im not gonna make outlandish statements, but we all know where that boy is going and its not the bottom.

Both are talented players with potential, both are homegrown, the 1 factor in our favour is, both SEEM cracking lads and I cant see either of them pushing for a move.

But the over riding fear is simple, City need homegrown players.

How many do they need, they want sterling

city have been brainless. they've known this home grown quota thing as well as FFP for a good few years now. why in the world have they been going out and splashing £32m on a mangala or a £30m on fernandinho etc. brainless buying.

They currently have 1, Joe Hart, 2 if the rumours of Richard Wright re-signing are true.

The Requirement is basically this: Each Premier League team can only register 25 players over the age of 21 for that season’s first-team matches. Of those 25 players, no more than 17 can be non-Home Grown Players. In other words, if you want the full complement of 25 over-21 players, you have to have at least 8 Home Grown Players.

We're not going to sell Stones. Of that, I'm almost certain. I have no doubt that Martinez has noticed the ropey age profile of our squad and won't be too keen to make that worse by selling a young lad who plays a position in which we've already thinned considerably.

With regards to Barkley, we hold all the cards and it's clear his value has dipped since the pre-season hype. We've been historically tough negotiators and I can't see him leaving for anything other than an astronomical price that clubs just won't be willing to pay. City will remember Rodwell before they throw themselves into any agreement for Ross too. That being said, there is a slim chance of Ross going if Martinez simply just doesn't rate him anymore and, I could very well be wide of the mark, it seems to me it could very well be the case.

Edit: Aren't they looking at Danny Rose aswell? He's homegrown and, more to the point, should give you an idea of how utterly bereft of good judgement the Man City scouts are.

Right, they must have some kids, what about gibbs

I'd sell Barkley any day of the week instead of Stones. Never thought I'd say that 12-24 months ago.

Barkley was shocking for large parts of the season just gone whereas Stones looked like a world class centre half on many occasions.

Sell Barkley for anything over £20m tomorrow but get Stones happy and settled.

Gael Clichy is classed as home grown.

Very doubtful.

I keep saying it, but nobody appears to be listening.

Manchester City need homegrown players, we have at least 2 that they would be very interested in.

City don't really need homegrown players tbh. They see their academy as being very successful in the next few years and they seem to want to rely on that to fulfill their homegrown needs rather than paying ridiculous money to buy homegrown players, after that's backfired so many times on them. They've already said they're planning on promoting 2 or 3 academy players next year. Without buying anyone they have the same number of homegrown players as Chelsea, and if either of those teams struggles for homegrown players they just register a smaller squad - Chelsea just won the league with a 20 man one.

Also, City clearly wanted Barkley but now they're after Pogba and De Bruyne instead. It really doesn't seem like they care that much about the fact he's homegrown.

Given his age, my concerns are more focused on Barkley, rather than Stones, but think Chelsea have a big interest in Stones personally.

Next summer I reckon as a replacement for Terry.
We'll sell because everyone has a price and Chelsea will meet it. £20-25m would be my guess which is a handsome profit and we move on

Could see Chelsea wanting him wouldn't sell him for 20 odd mill though. We flogged lescott for 24m & Stones is 10x the player he was imo
