John Stones

......we must be doing something right in the transfer market if some of our best talent like Stones are linked with big money moves away. Nice problem to have, it would be more of an issue if our players were not in demand.

True say

EFC need to do one of two things here. Come out and say he isn't for sale under any circumstance or slap a massive price tag to start the bidding. London evening standard claim chelsea are set to bid.

If you have good players other clubs will covet them. We are lucky enough to have a few.
The speculation isn't the problem , it's people choosing to believe every tittle tattle from every news media imaginable that raises the blood pressure for no good reason.

We certainly have a reputation for getting the maximum from every transfer out, remember Lescott and Fellaini how every last ounce of transfer was squeezed from the buying club.
If Chelsea want to buy John Stones or Utd want to but Seamus Coleman they had better be prepared to dig deep and I think they are very well aware of that.

Every player has a price and at a certain price I think most of us would agree that we should sell.
But, the manager will want to build his team and you don't do this by selling the best you have.
Our financial situation is now very secure courtesy of the mega millions flowing into football from television.
In the past we had to sell players to keep the bank manager happy, but we certainly are not under pressure now.

1) Everton have already done that.
2) London Evening Standard are about as in the know as the Metro.

If we have done that and it was taken seriously it wouldn't be an issue now. The fact that Rags like the LES or the Metro can still come up with Jarg roumers is down to the club not acting upon it. Clubs are powerful in the media, ask the Echo

think you're off the mark there mate. the rags can make as many jarg rumors as they like no matter what any club says. They make these stories up to make more money, as long as people buy them, read the stories online, etc they'll keep spewing out jarg crap. Baines was leaving every summer for the past 5 years and he never went anywhere

I totally agree, but EFC can have just as much clout with genuwine stories to instantly rebuff the crap that is spouted by the rest of the media.

They would have to co m e out in the media about 10 times a day for every rumour to be rebuffed. I think they just think that Evertonians are sensible enough to not over react like big girls over every rumour.

Totally agree with you, but I can't help but wonder what effect the speculation has on players. I wonder if Lescott would've acted the way he did if the Club were more adamant about his future.

Of course, it's pure speculation on my part. Lescott may have harboured a dream to play for City all his life...
