Your head's gone, Ste, as you're the one who is constantly insulting people for no apparent reason other than maybe disagreeing with you. And Smalling is not 'crap' at all.
He isn't good enough for England. He should be nowhere near the starting 11. We should have solid players CB who can come out with the ball. like a David Luiz/Ramos type.

Out of that starting 11, the only players who should be in the team are Sturridge and Sterling.

You can argue Rooney is world class but I'd play 4 2 3 1 with Sturridge up top. Rooney 2nd option.

Smalling has been played all over the place by Utd. If he was given his best position I think he would be as good as Ferdinand at his peak.

I don't think he'll reach the level of Ferdinand but he's a decent enough player who as you rightly say has been messed around at full back.

i quite like smalling tbh, haven't seen an awful lot of him.

stones and caulker could make a great partnership for england for years to come. would be very pleased if it was everton's centre partnership as well tbh

But you don't. Give it a few years and Stones and other kids might do it, but don't blame Smalling in that the English team looks pretty horrifying outside of a few standouts.

I think people like Smalling have the attributes to be good international players. The problem for me is the coaching and management of the players at club level. I do not want to turn this into a 'dig' at Moyes comment but with him at Man United and the coaching staff that used to be at Everton, Smalling if/when he plays at United is going to be asked to get rid first etc/hit the channels etc and not look to play out, which in essence is what is needed at international football.

We have too many coaches/managers in the country whose ideologies are seriously outdated and the limited time that these players have with the international setup is never going to be enough to get them to develop the way they should and need to. We as a club are very fortunate to have Martinez here as he seems to understand the way football is going and how it should be played and also that the younger players need to be free to express themselves. People like Stones etc will get the chance to do this without having to worry if they make a mistake, whereas other English youngsters will not have that luxury at the clubs they are currently at due to management/coaching styles and or techniques.

Analysing Stones' performance against West Ham, I would say that carrying the ball confidently out of defence is one of his strong points. He was less confident in dealing with the physical presence of Andy Carroll.
