[Poor language removed] me the John Stones Mafia!
I like him as a footballer as much as anybody but basic principle of defending " time and place"

This is the guy that Panenka'd The Old Lady without even blinking.

He can tie a hammock up between those mothers, take a siesta, send Howard to the Dry Cleaners, conduct a phone interview for FourFourTwo and still be pulling elasticos on the goal-line.

Ya 60 million sounds better forgot about the sell on clause.ah sure its only a matter of time before he goes someplace and barca would seem tailor made for him.:)

He is missing Jags in a big way. Mori can't cover for his mistakes and he isn't experienced enough to stay focused for the full 90. Loads of talent, but we need to remember how great Jagielka is as a defender (albeit he should hand the C arm band to commander Besic). I love that crazy ass Bosnian. He made some of those tough tackles we desparately need in this squad. Btw has he gotten taller?

I think it's his time...let's hope so!

What was the end result of all of that? we kept the ball cause they fouled us. That's much better than launching it aimlessly into row Z.
he didn't get himself into a hole, he was in a hole when he got the ball. He then twisted, saw Besic who was in a sticky situation, twisted then saw Howard who had 2 Spurs attackers sniffing around and decided to keep it a bit long till someone else gets open, they didn't, he got fouled. Players like him don't 'launch' balls cause they believe they can find better solutions. Its this sort of arrogance on the ball that makes really great teams just that. if we had more players in our back six with his level of ability on the ball then we'd be a much better team. imagine telling Bobby Moore, Baresi, Scirea, or god forbid Beckenbauer to launch balls when they feel they can create another option...just imagine.
Tell it like it is bro!

All at the same time as chopping down a Stoke forward?

People have suggested Shawcross as a Stones replacement.

Yesterday, there were a few moments when, despite having ample time and space to turn out of defence, Shawcross elected to boot it out of play.

And on every occasion, Liverpool applied the pressure from their throw-in high upfield, and pressed Stoke into a mistake.

If that had been Stones, he'd have played his way out and remained in control.

The game has evolved and against teams that press high, the best way to get out of trouble is not to 'boot it out'. It is to retain the ball and work a move forward.

Give me that any day.
