The thing is, Mike, those fans were quite justified in their criticism at the Spurs game.

He should have listened to them instead of making a sarcastic gesture at them.

If he had have just cleared his lines today there would have been no penalty.

As for keeping him, I would take any ridiculous offer we got for him.

As Funes Mori is demonstrating, there are centre halves as good or better than him out there at a fraction of the price.

Exactly. Those who wanted him to clear it when he had chance v Spurs have been proven correct today.

He made his bed when he put in that transfer request at a time in the window where it would have been very difficult to get a replacement at the right price. The bad, bad tramp.
Whatever your opinion on him one thing that can't be questioned is his lack of ability in defence. Not for the first time this season he was a disgrace.
No way is that lad a premier league defender so it doesn't make any odds to me whether he goes or not. My worry is what type of profile Martinez goes for to replace him.

I think this will happen as we are loosing our footing. Yes I know most blame Howard but he hesitated to long on the ball.

I'd happily sell him to some mugs for £30m+.

He's got lovely composure on the ball and has that Rolls Royce air about him when stepping out of defence in possession, but this disguises the fact that he has several, major shortcomings as a central defender. He is no more effective as a defender and distributor than Jags or Funes Mori. He just looks classier when he goes about his business. Whether he is in the team or not makes no difference to our performances or results - we ship loads of goals with him in the side.

If we got shot of Martinez, I may think differently. I'd like to see him perform under a better manager, but even then, I'm not convinced that he has the ability to up his game accordingly.

Yes, blaming Howard is the GOT default position lol

Where I do fault Howard is in conceding the penalty.....there was no need.

All he had to do was stand up, spread himself and create an impossible angle for the Swansea fellow to score from.

But he should never had had a decision to make IMO.

The excellent Wiliams would never have done that to his goalkeeper.

Stones is costing us games and points this season. His arrogance is a real plus when he's on form, but he's made mistake after mistake lately. Needs to be taken on one side by somebody to explain the concept of a defender's responsibility.
Unfortunately, Roberto is not the man to do that. Let's hope our next manager can do it.
