John Stones

Made up nonsense once again written to unsettle a young player under pressure from the media and his own fans (without having done much wrong to deserve it). And the worst part is, the thickos believe it, and we have some stupid fans. I'm sorry, but we really really do.

While that particular article was probably written without a genuine source, the reality is clubs will again be in for him in the summer, especially if he plays and plays well at the Euros. You can say the media are just trying to unsettle Stones (and Everton), and you may be right, but one of the most powerful clubs in the world already made an aggressive bid for him last summer.

This isn't something that will just go away.

Oh I've got no doubt that clubs will be in for him mate. He will likely leave, I've accepted that.

I'm mainly talking about some (and not all) fans wanting to see the club sell one of our best players - young or otherwise.

We are a stepping stone club. Until we have a Board with any muscle, that is what we are. Ceteris paribas, I would sell Stones, at the figures being quoted, in a heartbeat.

Im not as bothered about selling Stones as i was pre-season. Basically because our defense has been awful in terms of the bottom line of our defense is collectively letting lots of goals in. If we sell him for 45 million ++ buy a decent replacement for 15-20 m or so then use the rest for quality attackers.

The decent replacement is already here in the guise of Funes Mori. The money we get for him will only half be reinvested in the team, with the cash from Lukaku too, that should be a decent amount to buy a new keeper and striker.

I bet none of the two of you were "loving it".

I bet you were yelling "get rid" like all the sensible people were.

And I bet you don't want to see him do it again in similiar circumstances.

:p

it was heart in mouth, but I enjoyed it, and I was quite confident that if he hadn't ended up getting the free kick, he would have took the piss out of Son again, and ended up clearing the ball.

Wouldn't necessarily be placing all of the blame with the lads at the back for our shambolic defence. It's the team as a whole that needs to take responsibility the amount of protection they've been getting.

Put simply, I think even the best defenders would've struggled this year.

This. That entire incident has been a mountain made out of a molehill by our fans and media. He never once looked like he had lost control.

He made a bad error against Swansea, but you can understand exactly why he doesn't want to go back to Howard due to the absolute atrocity that he is. Stones was more than happy to go back to Joel.

no. he is a fantastic player...technically one of the best Ive seen play for us and after years of % football I am happy that he is encouraged to show that talent.

I wanted us to win that game. Draws are not much use.. especially when you've already drawn a million games...and in my opinion Stones wanted that too and although its an extreme situation I like that he is doing the opposite of % football and wants to keep possession to set us on the attack.

Things obviously arent going well at the club right now but whether its going to be under Martinez or a new boss I would quite like to keep the attitude of allowing young players to show their talent without the fear of mistakes.

I have the luck to get to see Messi live every couple of weeks, but after the little genius my favourite player to watch is Busquets who is one of the biggest risk takers in possession Ive ever seen. I can honestly imagine Stones in a similar position and see some similarities in how they receive and distribute the ball. Your heart is in your mouth at times but you're grinning afterwards at the audacity of them.
