John Stones

Great.

I mean I hope it works out but he doesn't have the physical presence that Dier does and I'd much rather he stick to one position and learn that.

Gonna be turned into a defensive version of Milner...

EDIT: In fact, the most worrying thing Woy actually says is "we want Stones at centre-back or right back"

Right back... the clown

Ffs, he want to play a crooked player like Wilshere who dooesn't even play for his club as a DM or if he doesn't make it Stones there!

And yet there are players like Jack Cork who are solid, if unspectacular, but know the role inside out and don't have fitness issues. The mind boggles.

Agree but... Jack Cork?

Drinkwater, certainly. Heck, even Noble, as much as he's a rat. Cork is a bit too 'unspectacular', IMO

Always liked him myself, both at S'ton and Swansea, tends to fly under the radar a lot but can have spectacular games at times.

He's just a bit 'meh' for me Legs.

A solid player granted, but it would sum England's current state of affairs up if Cork was handed a cap at the moment.

Dier is the one legs.

Just has that air about him that he's going to be a stand out talent - like Stones.
He has looked very good there for Spurs but my concern was that he hasn't got that much experience in the role before this year.

We've got lots of attack minded midfielders, would be nice to have a couple that were used to playing with the squad whose first thought was defending and covering the CBs. I think Wilshere is a talented player when fit (similar to Sturridge) but he isn't a defensive midfielder, for a start his ankle ligaments ping at the mere thought of a few tackles!

As @Kiwi said someone like Barry would be ideal, just about 10 years younger and with a bit of pace :(

You know this season Stones has played 28 games for us during which we've conceded 42 goals. Jags has played 22 games for us during which we've conceded 24 goals.

Might just be a sign that, at this point in his career anyway, Stones needs a leader next to him in defense. I think his game (and his reputation tbh) really took a turn for the worse when Jags got injured.
