Agree, especially as Stones had to not just figure out his own positioning with little direction but had to work with RFM who, although he has adapted very well to the league, can sometimes sit far too deep.You know this season Stones has played 28 games for us during which we've conceded 42 goals. Jags has played 22 games for us during which we've conceded 24 goals.
Might just be a sign that, at this point in his career anyway, Stones needs a leader next to him in defense. I think his game (and his reputation tbh) really took a turn for the worse when Jags got injured.
Add to that having Coleman/MCarthy out for a spell who could shield him a bit and a nervy Howard behind, it really was a bit of a perfect storm for the lad. Tough but valuable lesson for him and has the right mentality I think to bounce back from it.
