John Stones

Yeah, he does look like he hates it here tbf. Martienz and the fans have destroyed his confidence.

I hope the new manager can keep hold of him as he got everything to be a top class defender but the fans have to learn to put up with playing out of the back and the mistakes that come with it. Like he said calm down.
I loved watching him as I thought we had something special on our hands, and I think we did.
I do think when we rejected the Chelsea bid, he just switched off and once he did everything went downhill for him.

I still think he is a player who could fit into Barcelona's team, he could be that good...

Sadly for what ever reasons we will not see that

Totally agree, and the damning remark from our favourite turncoat Sky pundit that,"he doesn't recognise danger quickly enough" really sums up where his game is lacking. He has all the skill in the world, but the important defensive requirements of heart and instinct are things a new coach might or might not be able to address.

I'm really not arsed about stones any more.

Good player, with potential to be great.

Looks like he doesn't have a heart to me. You can blame all the situations around him such as Martinez etc and that is very valid. However, don't think he will cope under pressure anywhere. Looks like a massively over pampered fanny to me.

Players come and go. Every year there are new players coming onto the scene.
Twelve months ago I don't believe that most of us would have expected Pennington, Connolly, Dowell, Kenny and Davies to have played in the Premiership.

I think Galloway will replace Stones and I think he is a more natural defender anyway.

Yep, for anybody worried about losing Stones, the names given above quash that worry for me.

Galloway, Pennington and Holgate (even though I have not seen much of the latter). We will certainly bring a couple of experienced defenders in as well and could buy 2 x 25m rated centre halves for what we get for Stones.

The fact that he has been largely a liability all season softens the blow of him leaving but it will be gutting to see Jose make him the best defender in Europe

Jose can't stop him making brain farts mate, it seems that is part of his game.

That said, against Man U in the second half of the semi he was very good and wasn't trying to play it out constantly, he looked remarkably improved. Reverted to type after that though.

100% agree

IMO we need to stop putting young centre-backs anywhere near the first team, you can't train experience, a decent CB usually hits peak when a similar aged striker is "finished".

I really hope whoever we replace him with is just a straight foward CB who can read crosses and head it tbh, leave the ball playing to the midfield.
