If he doesn't sign a new contract then he must be sold to anyone except jose. Yeah I'm bitter

I don't want anyone who not committed to this team. Managers have it hard enough without dealing with players who don't want to be here. Same goes for the rest of the team.

Life isnt that black and white, some of the 'fans' behaviour certainly won't have helped, that altercation at services where we was crying for example. I can see a host of other elements thought that will have impacted on him and his performances, as mentioned in other post.

The fans at the services were asking him not to go, surely that's not a bad thing.

Hopefully. We're still one CB short though. Koeman likes to play 3 at the back at times.

he only did that for a spell this season when they were leaking goals. He went to 3 at the back and they kept a load of clean sheets (having Forster back helped), but then they faltered a bit in that system and he pretty quickly reverted back.

No it needn't be especially with our full backs and lack of top quality wide players.

You should watch more European football

I think 3 at the back is just one of those things that doesn't transition as well to the English game - a bit like the 'false 9' formation that was all the rage a few years ago.

It works in fits and starts, but it can be pretty easily sussed out also.

If Koeman goes back to Southampton for anyone he (and we) will be absolutely fleeced as we did to Moyes when he came back in for Fellaini, they'll want 30m for van Dijk given his contract and form last year and he ain't worth that. They'll probably demand something similar for Forster so I hope Koeman looks beyond them and doesn't waste his budget turning us into Southampton lite. There's good players under the radar in numerous leagues across Europe you can pick up for peanuts with decent scouting, so many good players at mid table German teams, for example. Timo Horn being one of them

I think it depends entirely who the 3 are.

If 3 static centre back mark 1 forward then I agree that the team will be overloaded in midfield

If one of them ( say Stones ) is given licence to push forward into midfield then it can work .

The system works particularly well when you play against 2 strikers but I accept that few teams have played that way recently ( although I think there may be a return , albeit slow , to teams playing 2 strikers in the future).

The system depends on the intelligence , ability and flexibility of those playing it.
