My understanding is that unless a player withdraws a transfer request it remains in force. Everton have not granted a transfer, as we know, but I am reasonably sure his request is still in place
It will interesting to see how this saga develops. I think his head may have already been turned ( or his agents head) and that nothing will convince him to stay. Hopefully that is not the case.
It is a position that we have serious talent on the periphery of the first team. A fit again Browning, Pennington, Holgate and a player I rate higher than Stones as a defender in Galloway.
It may well be that a lot of our transfer activity may happen in the closing weeks of the window.
The manager will first of all have to assess the players he already has at the club.
He has to assess youngsters to see if he thinks they are ready to play a part.
Ledson, Walsh, Connolly, Davies,Kenny,Pennington, Holgate, Dowell,Browning, Holgate, Galloway, Henen , Grant.There are a couple of others as well but I think some of the above at least will play a part....some will probably go back out on loan but it is a considerable list of talented young players to assess.

If the price is right then we should sell. He isn't that good. He can't even win a header. He dives in like a psychopath far too often, resulting in us conceding penalties etc. His poncing about in front of the box isn't his job, it's a midfielders job, and one which should be done further up the pitch. He has been hyped to the extreme.

He was 21 years old all last season, is an incredible tackler, wonderful on the ball, has ice in his veins and it's a total MYTH that he's not good at 'the basics' - go back and watch the first 10 games of the season again before Martinez's project started crumbling irrevocably.
You think Mourinho - MOURINHO of all managers - would desperately want a defender who can't defend very well? It's so baffling how constantly English football fans think that just because he can play must mean he can't do the basics.

The CB hes just signed has quite a lot of major errors over the season. He is a beast but not a consistent defender...only seen him a couple of times but his stats and the press highlighted a number of lapses of concentration like another yobo.
It's not about Mourinho not wanting to sign a player that still has the odd mistake in his game. It's about Mourinho wanting to sign a player who apparently 'cant' do defending basics well.
I'd still be upset even if we sold him for 50m+.
