John Stones

I dunno, over the last few years our hand is become rather hard to force, Chelsea tried it with Stones, United with Baines, we're a it strong now for that, and with these two players we hold the cards in a firm grip, so not sure they can, but I can't see City going into the new season without knowing for certain either way if they are getting him.

I just don't want us to do what we did with Lescott and start the season with a player we know we are selling and everything still up in the air.

And this was a right FU - look at the players RM brought in on the back of this. Do not want a repeat.

Haha I do like Coleman as I said originally. How would you make it work then?

In a perfect world:

1. Unload deadwood squad members: Hibbert, Osman, McGeady, Kone. Frees up their wages and any sale profits can be used to increase wages cap for new players.
2. Sign new marketing deal with Moshiri companies to increase funds usable for wages.
3. Sign Mata and Witsel on same day we announce new Lukaku deal.
4. Sell Stones (luxury player). Frees his wages and profit can be used to increase wages cap for new players.
5. Sign everybody else we damn well please.
6. Build Seamus a statue on the docks made of mustard encased in diamond.

Nice one mate but:-

1. include Niasse
4. No keep him and tell the FA to lump it and pay their fine.

OK, I'm convinced. I don't think Moshiri could possibly offer a bigger statement of intent than a diamond statue full of mustard.

John Stones tells Everton he wants Manchester City move
Exclusive: Everton defender could be at Etihad early as next week as talks continue

Everton's John Stones wants to start pre-season with Manchester City

John Stones has told Everton that he wants to leave for Manchester City.

And the Blues defender hopes a move to the Etihad Stadium can gather pace this week.

The England centre-half has held talks with manager Ronald Koeman and informed him of his intention to quit Goodison this summer.

And the ECHO understands that Stones wants to begin his pre-season training at City with Pep Guardiola.

Stones is due to return to Everton next week and so the Manchester club will try and push through a deal before then.

Everton will look to bank at least £50m for the England defender and have already started planning for life without the 22-year-old.

The Blues have lodged an audacious mega-money bid to try and hijack Chelsea’s move for Napoli centre-half Kalidou Koulibaly.

It is believed that Everton would have to reinvest the majority of the proceeds of any sale of Stones to land the 25-year-old Senegal international.

Chelsea have also made an approach for Koulibaly and are understood to have made significant progress on a deal to take him to Stamford Bridge.

But Everton are hoping that a huge offer can help swing the negotiations in their favour as they look to find a ready-made replacement for the wantaway Stones.

Everton want Napoli's French defender Kalidou Koulibaly (R) as a replacement for Stones

Everton signed Stones from Barnsley in January 2013 in a £3m deal and the Championship club would be due a sell on fee if the Blues agreed a deal with City.

Last summer, Chelsea made three bids for Stones as part of a dogged pursuit to land the talented defender.

Stones had a transfer request rejected by the club who stood firm and kept hold of the youngster.

But now it appears that the centre-half is determined to move on and Everton and City have already been in contact over the proposed transfer.
