....I still wonder about the assumed stalemate with his contract. We have him on a long-term deal so the club hold the Aces but in relative terms his salary is low. An offer is on the table that will probably treble his earnings but apparently the club won't agree the release figure. The player is losing a fortune by not signing.

I might have the scenario wrong but in the last few days RM has spoken of the need to get top 4 to keep his brightest young talent. I think this one has still got a way to run.

It's was the same with sterling, he was on a low wage

To paraphrase what the Daily Mirror says, the debate is no longer if Stones is a first team player for England, It's who should play with him.

We knew it now they know it.

So good it hurts

Will be like a kick in the Sack when he leaves because you know he's going to go on and be one of the best in world football

Hope and pray he goes abroad

The papers are starting to realise that he will end up playing at Barca in a year or two and don't want to look like utter planks for not shouting out him for the England squad mate

Fully expect a story upcoming about how he should move to United for the good of the country so he can partner Smalling for both club and country

Spanish daily newspaper Sport ran a poll asking fans what they thought of Stones.

Almost 75 per cent of supporters who voted said they would like to see the promising 21-year-old join their defensive ranks.
