Palace fan here - Textor bought a big share in the club back in 2021 and the cash was used to fund some excellent purchases. We bought Guehi, Andersen, Olise and loaned Gallagher. Those have set us in good stead. However Textor bought 45% of the business with only 25% of the control. The other 75% is covered by 3 votes from Steve Parish, Josh Harris and David Blitzer. Harris and Blitzer basically let Parish get on with it, and most (sensible) fans are happy with a Palace fan who's done an incredible job in Parish making the decisions.

Textor's view is different, he wants us to be part of a multi-club model and probably spend more money and take more risk. Parish is very cautious, we take minimal risk which is probably why we've got between 40-49 points every single season we've been in the Premier League. If you get Textor, you'll probably sign a load of players from all over the world for peanuts. Some will work, a lot won't, but he does have cash to spend and he has built up connections and a good scouting network. You'll be more like Brighton than Palace. We tend to shop in the Championship and go after players who are near the end of their contracts, available for free, or are just out of favour. The one gamble we took last summer on a Brazilian wonderkid hasn't really gone as planned (Matheus Franca).

From the outside looking in, he'd be a lot better than Moshiri but does also represent risk.

Appreciate the input.

I think the emboldened sentence alone would excite plenty of Evertonians.

Unearthing a rare gem sounds exciting - on paper, at least.

We've grown tired of "proven Premier League" players - for good or ill.

Doesn't seem like a Dyche-compatible philosophy, though.

Proper slag this flirty yank swine, saying all the right things, the smooth talking barsteward.

Promise the earth when they are wooing you, buy you nice gifts like a cf or two and make a fuss but soon the novelty has worn off & the nice expensive meals and lavish gifts of 12 midfield playmakers dry up then they cheat on you with the nanny/headlocker.

I’m ready to get hurt again John…..

Hi mate,

Do you have any knowledge of what Textor may be like when it comes to off-the-field stuff, like has he made any club appointments who've come in and made a tangible difference? Our biggest problem is we've been ran appallingly for 30 odd years. Bulk of that was down to Kenwright hiring only incompetant arse-licks in order to maintain power, then Moshiri being fast and loose which has culminated in all our financial woes and PSR breaches. Would Textor, or his reps, actually get the club on an even footing before he looks to make waves or is he another owner whose happy to gamble to the family silver?

No real knowledge to be honest, he really hasn't been able to make many significant decisions on that front. Better off looking at Lyon and Botafogo which I don't really know much about but he has much more control over.

Last year he wanted Frank Lampard as manager of Lyon.

He then chose Fabio Grosso who went on to win 1 of 9 before getting sacked
If we’re going to judge him on last season with Lyon you surely can’t omit the second half of the season where they had one of the best records in Europe, went from the relegation zone to the Europa League and made it to the cup final.

Maybe Grosso was an error in judgement but he corrected it and brought in a guy who was tremendously successful. If you’re going to criticise the bad you can’t ignore the good.
