so theres been over 10 000 complaints ?

i wonder how many of those 10 000 have actually listened to the program and also how many of those complaints were from heather mucca mills ?

friday night with jonathan ross is imo one of the only proggrames i like watching at a weekend. i suppose the pc brigade will get them both the sack and we will have to suffer unfunny abusive gayer than gay proggraming replacing it, like graham norton ,dale winton or alan carr.

seems like people only take offence at white straight males nowadays.
my proof ? watch alan carrs celebrity ding dong and see how many offencive jokes he makes ............. and nobody bats an eyelid.

every joke is at someones expense and the uproar over this non event is wipped ito a unnesasary frenzy and just goes to show that this country has no backbone any more.
 
UK it is nothing to do with the number of complaints. You have supposedly a pair of mature responsible adults who resort to leaving abhorrent and obscene messages on an answerphone. Whether it is broadcast or not is not the point, it is about two people who themselves have families, relatives etc would they like this happening to do them. UK, if I left a message on your phone saying what a good F*** your wife, partner or daughter is, you think that's funny?
 
Isn't Jonathon ross supposed to be really protective of his family and how they get used in the media?

What do you reckon his reaction would of been if someone had left the same message on his answerphone about a family member?

Seems like they have both apologised to Sachs, he has accepted the apology. Should be end of story. And it would if certain media outlets hadn't latched onto it cause they love how a bit of fake moral outrage sells papers.

ive had similar jokes said to me.

mate walks in pub "alright mate ?- "yea not to bad i justed shagged your mum"

i call him a c%nt , and we both laugh.

also , about the prank call , dont channel 4 have a show called phone jacker ? what the difference between that show and what ross and brand did ? both are in the jest of ridiculing the receiver of the call.

i know the difference , the ross and brand situation sells papers !

storm in a tea cup and a media witch hunt - thats all it is imo.
i back them both 100%

also if you go to the grandaughters bebo page , you will find that she was bragging about being mentioned on the show and even posted links to it on her satans sluts site. as soon as it hit the tabloids though she was then "sickened" and wanted both to be sacked.

obviously it wasnt gentlemanly but she's clearly a sl.ut by trade and nature.

I agree with that but the apologies had virtually to be wrung out of them notwithstanding that stupid apology sung by Brand treating it as another joke.

Comes down again as to why "two grown ups" have to behave like childish morons, remember they mentioned the word Prank, what? And if people think this is funny humour then they must be just as sick.
 
it all comes down to taste and double standards.

an example is the sun today.
theres 4 or 5 pages of slagging off ross and brand.

then if you flick through there loads of les dawson jokes (funny man he was imo)

most of the jokes are aimed at mother in laws being dead or wanted to be dead, isnt that offencive to mother in laws ?

then theres the article with a picture of a 'cute' dog dressed up as a suicide bomber.isnt that offencive to anyone killed by a terrorist ?

if i dont like it , i wouldnt buy or read it.
if you dont like ross or brand , then dont watch or listen.

it just makes me laugh that the worlds banks and financial markets are almost dead (gets half a page) but two comedians who make a bad joke get so much coverage.

Ross and Brand should be thanked for taking everyones minds of the whole credit crunch.

Risk losing your house and everything you ever worked for? Dont worry about, come get aboard our lovely bandwagon and get 2 horribly awful men the sack. That will learn them.

While you are sleeping on the floor in a cardboard box they will have to work for channel 4, but at least your taxes wont be paying their wages. Oh thats right, you dont pay taxes anymore since you lost your job.

Seems like everyone hates Brand and Ross at the moment, but cant stop talking about them!

Dylan, have you read the transcript of what these two pricks did to a 78 year old man?

Screaming down the phone, when he would be unaware of what the hell was going on, "He [Poor language removed] your granddaughter".

How would you feel if some tosser phoned you up, from NBC, and suddenly declared he's [Poor language removed] your mum, daughter or wife? Bear in mind that it was sent out live to 800,000 people. And then, to make matters worse, that [Poor language removed] phoned you a further 3 times cracking more pathetic jokes at your families expense.

Okay, in comparison to the credit crunch, the war in Iraq/Afghanistan, the countless murders, and on, and on, it's pretty small fish. But bear in mind that the British public are forced to pay for this crap. The BBC has prided itself on having good standards and while I wouldn't lose sleep over what went on, I think it is disgraceful conduct that needs addressing.
 
Its blown out of proportion, yes it was stupid, irresponsible, but the guy himself has said hes not doing anything about it, and people have been phoning in sounding absolutely livid. It was a joke which got out of hand which they admitted too. Its just a ridiculous situation, which shouldve never have happened in the first place. Besides, his grand daughter probably got more coverage for her 'career' anyways.
 
the reason it has got so much media coverage is that it has offended so many people. a record 15,000 people have complained.

the sun or the mirror never cover proper news anyway, in fact this is just the story that justifies their existance.. but broad sheets like the guardian are covering it on the front page as well.

it has cossed not only the like but across the class system in the uk.

added that to do this to just anybody is wrong, but an institution like andrew sachs has angered most balanced individuals.

hang 'em high! (or give a suitable suspension~!)
