A decent analysis of their goal shows a lot to work on, not just for Kenny. We had two players covering the middle when they counter attacked at pace , not good enough as a team. Kenny took a step towards the player with the ball presumably to cut down their options but maybe to play offside. The second player , Digne ?, remained static and Pereira was away . He now had a couple of yards on Kenny and with his pace could have gone all the way on goal. Kenny tracked back well, let’s face it he’s not the speediest full back , and was cutting off his route to goal , but as soon as Pereira started to cut inside he had all the advantage he needed as Kenny was going towards our goal and was now off balance and easily turned. The last desperate “throw your body in the line of the shot “is a Kenny trademark, sometimes it works other times it makes you look foolish. He was still going to be turned , the respective starting positions of both players ensured Pereira had the advantage, but with experience he’ll learn when to stay upright when to dive in .
Overall I’d rate him as a 6 yesterday, good enough to retain his place, not good enough to keep Coleman out - but the gap between the two is narrowing, although Coleman is boosted by the GOT malady “ the longer I don’t play , the better I get”
