Why? Why do we need 3 right backs?
I know this is unlikely because it’s Everton but maybe they’re taking a view beyond just next season.

Seamus’ last year and when he goes we’ll definitely need a back up to Paterson, who by that stage will hopefully be our clear first choice. Kenny will be a squad player, play the early cup games and won’t rock the boat about not playing and he’ll be relatively cheap. Why would we spend a transfer fee and wages that’ll likely be higher than Kenny’s just for a back up right back.

Makes sense to me, spend every available penny on the midfield.

You ever seen him play? He's a League 2 player at best.

He wouldn’t be playing very often. We’d have Paterson as first choice and if fit playing every week. He’s just back up and money is tight. While there is still massive gaps in the starting eleven, spend every penny of the budget there, then worry about our back up players needing upgraded.

Just read his interview in the German media, says playing time is one of the main things he’s looking for in his next contract - that being the case, don’t think it will be here so don’t worry.

If we want to improve he should never play again.

Think he'll survive purely on the fact we don't wanna spend more money on right back. Hopefully there will be a half decent option on loan.

I can't believe how many people in here seem reconciled with the idea of Kenny staying. He single handedly lost us the game against Burnley and almost relegated us. Not good enough. He's 25 and has made only 69 appearances, that should tell it's own story. He should be thanked for his efforts, told he's welcome back in the directors box to watch a game any time he likes but he should never wear an Everton shirt in anger ever again.
