Not surprising he rejected the contract offer, it would have been made clear to him that he was well down the pecking order and would be picking up his wages from the bench for the foreseeable.

He'll have been offered similar terms to what he's on against a signing on fee and possibly more cash elsewhere where he'll probably be a starter. No brainer for him and a massive escape for us, maybe his place in the squad can be taken by a young lad coming through.

Looks like Patterson will be getting a bit of game time then next season or are we buying another right back now lol
I think we will.

I've said the last few weeks not to expect the RB situation to be a closed book.

He has Coleman who is increasingly hit and miss (though a very experienced player who can still contribute), and a lad who's hardly played football anywhere never mind the PL.

If that RB situation stays the way it is and we start with those two and no one else who can play RB then it'll shock me.

Lampard will be looking out for a replacement for Kenny, for sure IMO.

Good decision for him and a big relief. My biggest worry was that we'd end up with Kenny starting most games at RB next season when Coleman is rotated when it really should be Patterson. Hopefully this gives Patterson the impetus to go and capture the full time job. We've been lacking offensive contribution from that position for way too long, and the defense provided has not made up for it.
