He is a good player and the very least isa good cover and good squad player.

Since when was that never good enough, everyone wants world class in every squad position these days, and hounds them as not good enough as soon as they have bad games.

Osman and hibbert proved for years that similar players can have a massive impact im squad building, they save you money and add something that cant be bought.

Good call on Hibbert and Osman - we do need squad players and it looks like Kenny can cover two positions. Even the wings if you were desperate or needed to lock a game down late on.

Then it's up to him to earn starts and he seems to have the attitude for it.

Agree doesnt have to be a Worldie to make a difference.

Some on here would have had Alan Harper out the door faster than a rat down a drainpipe! a much underrated utility player. Was part of that great 80's team and deservedly so.

Mad that I’m writing this but that was the best performance we’ve seen from someone at LB for us all season. For me has to start again there over Mykolenko until it inevitably ends in disappointment. In the off chance that he does that well again then it’s a fantastic problem to have.

Not sure it's sustainable to have a LB w/o a left foot for the most part to successfully play LB. He owned Raphinha the other day though. It was fun to watch.

That outside of the right foot cross to DCL right before the first goal was very close.
To be honest @ilikecheese, Dennis Irwin played for Oldham and Man Utd and Ireland very successfully, and he was predominantly a right footed player. A great player to have aboard.
I voted for JJK as my choice of MOTM on Saturday for a number of reasons. Performing in a relatively unknown position, he dominated a player who had terrorised the left side of our defence the last three times we had played Leeds. So much so, and this despite that Screaming Skull Murphy claiming otherwise, Raphinha needed to be subbed at half time.
Let us also not get too paranoid about his game being a 'one off' either. He has performed the left back position on more than a few occasions , whether at under 23 level etc; so it might not be the huge gamble we think it could be if he kept his place for the Soton game.
Time will tell soon enough.

Psycho Pat was a right footed player who did quite a good job at left back for us. Denis Irwin did ok for Utd. as well. Not saying Kenny is in the same league as either of them, but, the fact that he is right footed doesn't stop him playing left back.

It's not about everyone being world class but there's a fair debate about whether Kenny is good enough to stay here if we have ambitions of moving past our current position.

He isn't, and never has been, completely useless. He can come in and do a job if we need him to and that's fine, but i'm not sure he's good enough to be really putting pressure on a good first choice right back, or good enough to be coming in for 10/20/30 games if there's a serious injury, and that's when it becomes a problem. If he can keep up saturday's level between now and the end of the season i'll be right behind giving him a new contract, if he reverts to the type of performances i've seen from him here before, and at Schalke, and at Celtic, then I don't think giving him a new contract is a good idea.

My lad is right footed and plays left back to great effect. No issue with it at all. Maybe even more useful when facing 'inverted wingers' such as Raphina.

Yep it's more useful with how many inverted wingers we have no. Most lefties aren't so hot going out on their right either.
