Some game to come into, spent most of the first half getting the run around my Sanchez or Kolasnic. Unpopular opinion here but i just don't think he is ready or good enough, should've gone out on loan.

Exactly. Its on record that Koeman has given more young players a chance than any other manager in the Prem. At the same time he is protective of the younger players. Kenny is not ready for the Prem and continued exposure might harm him indefinitely.
RK does a hell of a lot (most!) of things in a cockeyed way, but his treatment of younger players has been fine.

Personally I think he’s had enough loans and the further development he needs should be done in and around our first team. This is where we need the coaching staff to be stepping in and stepping up. You’re not going to develop Rooney much but Kenny needs specific work on areas of his game that should be worked on. We had three young full backs start games for us under Martinez, Garbutt, Galloway and Browning and I think most people would agree they did ok in the games they played. Browning got hit by injuries but Galloway and Garbutt went backwards during their loan periods, failing to get game time and looking like they lost all confidence. Some players need loans and do well e.g. Joe Williams , for me we should keep Jonjoe at home , keep him around the first team and work on his development at USM FF.

He definitely needs to be kept in. If he gets dropped after one bad game playing against one of the 5 best players in the Premier League it could destroy his confidence! He just needs to be shown what he could have done differently and he seems a bright lad so he should learn from it.

See I really don't thinkGalloway and Garbutt went backwards during their loans. I think this actually highlights what I see as a problem with some people's attitudes towards young players.

There are examples in this thread of people who seemingly refuse to accept any criticism of a young player. There are people adamant that he had a good game yesterday, when I don't think any neutral observer would agree. I've made the point before that if a young lad is picked on merit - as Kenny was yesterday - he has to be judged using the same criteria as the senior pro he's been selected ahead of. I don't think there's any doubt at all that Martina would have been slated if he played like Kenny yesterday, so let's say it how it is.

This, to me, is what makes people think Galloway and Garbutt have gone backwards. When they've come in to the side, people have given them a load of leeway and made out like their performances have been much much better than they were in reality. Galloway did a decent job in difficult circumstances when he had a run at left back, but his weaknesses were there for all to see. Anybody who's surprised that he is being caught out positionally and can't cope with wingers running at him really wasn't paying attention when he was in our team, because it happened all the time. Because people wouldn't accept the criticism at the time though - preferring to pretend that he was 'better than Stones' and a 'world class prospect' - they think he's now gone backwards when in reality he was just never as good as people said. It's actually more helpful for the young lads if we're honest about them, in my opinion. It saves them from failing to live up to impossible expectations.

Whatever you say about them individually a back 4 of Kenny, Keane, Galloway and Garbutt - IF COACHED AND SET UP PROPERLY - would actualy do better than the current one. I know and agree we lose memory of how good people are when they are away or injured, and I know Galloway and Garbutt were not superstars, but there's obviously no teamwork and coordination, and perhaps an actual left sided player, and 4 fit fast players with Pickford would make a difference

Galloway looked like he was coming along well with a run of games the other year. Hindsight now shows it'll be 2 wasted years in his development unfortunately

I didn't see him get the run around -- I saw THE TEAM get the run around. He did well in holding his position and often holding his opponent up. What no FB, young or experienced, was going to be able to deal with on his own were situations where the team was being left short-handed by an opposition that moved the ball so quickly and accurately and so took fellow defenders and midfielders out the game.

Yep I thought he was solid under the circumstances. Stupid to not have a wide man to help out though, Lennon would have been ideal because he understands the defensive side of the game plus offers an outball.

I've said it time after Time, doesn't matter who we put left back or right back, if we play without width they are screwed as they are too scared of leaving the space behind them and they don't have an outball when needed hence Baines constantly turns back.

Coleman is the only full back who can get up and down on a regular basis.

He's basically asking players to do things they aren't capable of or aren't familiar with. No point in playing 3 centre backs if you are going to ask them all to stand on the 6 yard line because of lack of pace, might as well go with a flat back 4, stick another player up top or breaking from midfield or width and give the opposition something to think about.

The mis management of this squad is laughable, well it would be if it was any other club but I'm not laughing. His mis management is an absolute disgrace and the board are now held accountable for every hour he is left in charge to oversee this absolute sham
