I said well done in this thread about a minute after he saved. He gets credit when he gets something big right; the reverese is the case too.
I stand by the overall assessment though that he's average.
His shot stopping percentage (66%) is midtable.Ridiculous comment. How is he average? Not often does a young keeper come along who exudes confidence, in himself and others who play alongside him. He’s two footed and has a terrific future ahead of him. This is his 4th penalty save for the Blues.
100 caps for England, no doubt about it.
He kept us in the game mate but goals win games, but he helped.A crucial pen save - won us the game imo.....
Average my Arse do you go the game ?I said well done in this thread about a minute after he saved. He gets credit when he gets something big right; the reverese is the case too.

Don't read much into goalkeeping stats like that they won't really tell you anything about a goalkeeper because the stats ignore the quality of the shot. If you're a goalie with an airtight defence in front of you that limits the opposition to speculative shots that aren't gonna trouble any keeper your save percentage is going to be high. I think the last couple seasons Burnley's gk (Heaton and Pope) have been very high up the list in regard to save percentage because of the way their defence is set up.His shot stopping percentage (66%) is midtable.

He will only get 100 caps if a world class English keeper doesn’t appear on the scene. That there was a debate between him and a relegated Stoke goalkeeper for who would be #1 sums up the England gk situation. A bit like current English managers he’s good, but not great, and like current English managers wouldn’t get in a top six side. He’s good with his feet (great save vs Croatia in the semi) but shot stopping is an issue. Often seems to be out of range.
