His shot stopping percentage (66%) is midtable.

He will only get 100 caps if a world class English keeper doesn’t appear on the scene. That there was a debate between him and a relegated Stoke goalkeeper for who would be #1 sums up the England gk situation. A bit like current English managers he’s good, but not great, and like current English managers wouldn’t get in a top six side. He’s good with his feet (great save vs Croatia in the semi) but shot stopping is an issue. Often seems to be out of range.

His record is very good for a lad of his age though isn't it? More to the point, he performs very well in big games under pressure. His performances in the world Cup, where ehe almost single handedly dragged England to the Semi Final will count a lot more than stats will.

Don’t see why every single action of his has to be studied in-depth. No better example of that than the ridiculous attention on Januzaj’s goal. Since then it seems that whatever he does, even the good stuff has to be chipped away at with a load of stats to prove that actually he’s not a brilliant keeper. ‘The ball was actually going wide, he was actually off his line for the pen save, his saves v Sweden were actually routine, it should have been a pen v Spain, his distribution isn’t actually as good as Ederson’s after his two long passes v spain, he actually got lucky on his pen save today.’ etc. etc. Who effin cares?! For the first time in a long time we have a keeper who actually adds to our game (and England’s) rather than undermining it. He’ll make loads of mistakes (like all keepers) but it’s a completely different situation that Howard or Robles who regularly undermined whole games with continuous mistakes. Pickford in top form wins matches and when he’s not in top form he’s still a very good keeper. Why is this not enough for some? Why are people intent on proving that if he’s not as good as De Gea or Ederson then he must actually be crap. He’s a very good keeper that we’re lucky to have.
Well said sir.

Exactly, players who can raise their game in the big moments are few and far between and we haven’t had many at Everton for a long time.

Did well enough today. I just wish they wouldn't have interviewed him on MOTD2. His arrogance to the fore again: "My save turned the game". Even if it did...and I dont think it did as we only got a head of steam up to any effect last 10 minutes...he shouldn't be CLAIMING the result.

Dave my good man, don't worry about it mate. His save did turn the game, turned no points into a possible point and in turn we got 3 with a clean sheet.

He didn't CLAIM any result. He literally said in the same breath that it was his job. And he said exactly the same in the Sky interview earlier.

Stop being weird Dave. You're so much better than that.

I've never known how anybody can have the blinkers on one way or the other.

Pickford did his job. He said that. He was absolutely right in saying his save helped spur us on.

And of course it changed the bloody game. It was stating the obvious, but if they score that they go 1-0 up and it's an entirely different game, by definition.

There's a line between arrogance and confidence but you have to have a bit of arrogance to have confidence in yourself.

You should know who said that...

He called it a "game changer".

He's completely right.

It's difficult for us to get the win from a goal behind in the second half. We went on to keep a clean sheet and win. So by definition it changed the game.
