2018/19 Jordan Pickford

But when Pickford makes a mistake it's his fault and his fault alone. But when he does something well after Coleman "fouled" Zaha he can't take any credit for his own individual play because it's a team game.

Can't have it both ways mate.
Well it would be his fault, wouldn't it? That's not the same as saying he'd lost us the game, which, to my knowledge, no one has claimed. Certainly not me.

Individuals dont win or lose games on their own.

Come on Dave, you’re not actually trying anymore.

“I was pleased to save that penalty. It was the timing of the save, and then the gaffer brought a couple of subs on and changed the game”

So it’s Silva that he’s crediting with changing the game, while acknowledging the save came at an important point - a fact which surely even YOU couldn’t deny?

Try harder mate, I’m disappointed in you. You’re just not what you once were.

A spent force, many are saying.

Sad to see.
He said it on MOTD2. If that doesn't count, then ok.

Exactly, players who can raise their game in the big moments are few and far between and we haven’t had many at Everton for a long time.

I agree with that. I think Pickford will play better the higher up he goes. He got better for England as the tournament goes on.

Compare him to say Alisson, who made some mistakes for Brazil in big games and had a bit of a nightmare in the CL semi final last season.

He is a busted flush, bit like Martinez in his third season

Did well enough today. I just wish they wouldn't have interviewed him on MOTD2. His arrogance to the fore again: "My save turned the game". Even if it did...and I dont think it did as we only got a head of steam up to any effect last 10 minutes...he shouldn't be CLAIMING the result.
He's only saying it because it's true.

I’d rather have Pickford and that’s no joke. Allison has such a high reputation that even after the CL semi final (where he was pants) and his poor World Cup I thought he must be rated so highly for some reason. Watching him in the prem though he is slow to get down to shots across the goal (Hazard’s against him for Chelsea and Mahrez almost did him too). He is also very poor with his distribution when under pressure or over distance. The stats won’t show it though because most teams sit deep v Liverpool so most of the time he’s just rolling 5 yard passes out completely unopposed. The times I’ve seen him actually under pressure though he’s just ballooned it out. Tbh I’ve not seen a goalkeeper at the top level as heavyset as he is for a while. Their defensive record has improved this season so far but when you consider Mahrez’s pen miss, along with the amount of woodwork hits, denied pens, and bad misses, I think the stats are honestly misleading and he hasn’t really improved anything that much. I think Pickford could have a higher ceiling if he irons out his inconsistencies on positioning on long shots.

It's not true though.

His penalty save left the game essentially the way it was before it was given - for the last 30 minutes of the game before Lookman/DCL had their say on the outcome.

Christ on a bike mate.

You would watch Snow White and make an argument she was at fault ffs. I saw a young goalie saying he was chuffed with the save, and the manager making the subs changed the game.

I may have got that wrong on the interview. He might have said it was his save + the manager's changes that were the turning point.

He said making the save was important, he was chuffed, (cos he noticed the changed run up and wanted keep his ankles up as he dived) and the late changes changed the game.

To paraphrase.

As for arrogant. Not at all. A confident young man to me.

When I hear him come ourt and possess a howler in the way that he comes out and clears his throat for the cameras after an imprtant penalty save, I'll agree.
