Sadly some people will never let it go, they carry those 19 years of hurt with themselves everywhere they go, I think they think it makes them a Superbloo. Am I peed off with his mistake? God damn right I am, but im over it now, he messed up, he will mess up again, but you can tell the players that dont care, the players that only want the money and the fame, ALL OF THEM, LOL, but you know what I mean.

He seems a decent lad and he seems like he wants to improve his talent, he seems happy here and whilst hes made a few little errors in his time here the other day was the first time I recall him messing up as badly. Im sure hes not happy about it and im sure he will try and make sure it doesnt happen again.

Life is so short, some people need to learn how to forgive and forget, hate only makes your heart black.
Derby mistakes that lost us games = x2.

Maybe when he does it for the third time the penny will drop what a spanner he is.

Everything.
"He can afford to be lax and allow complacency to creep into his game"

He is a professional. I would imagine he has scrutinised that incident to the tiniest of details, even tried to replicate it in training so it doesn't happen again. Because that's what professionals do. I find it bizarre that you can imagine a goalkeeper playing at the highest level, but still with so much to prove, would do anything that could be considered lax or complacent.

(and still know he'll play every game),

IF he played crap over enough games, he would be dropped. Silva is no mug. But that won't happen because Pickford is a professional who won't allow himself to get lax or complacent.

even though I'm not saying being complacent was what happened against the RS - it was just a horrific mistake."

in which case I don't underatnd what point you are trying to make. Yes, it was just a horrific mistake. Nothing more, nothing less. Nothing to do with ego as one balloon on here suggests, nothing to do with being lax or complacent. As one World cup Goalkeeper said once, it was a mistake as big as a house. One I am sure he will learn from and become a better player as a result.

It's happened many, many times when players have had zero competition for a starting role and their form dropped. When we had Oviedo, Baines was pushed to perform better and he did. We can't talk like it's an alien concept for a player to become complacent when he knows he's safe in his position - because it's not. That doesn't mean my comment applies to Pickford, I'm merely stating it's a possibility that can't be ruled out.

We can't say whether he would or would not get complacent. We hope he's professional enough to not rest on his laurels. I'm sure it won't happen. But right now he knows that even when he's not at his best, or even if he's playing below-par but not terribly, he plays every week.

Simply saying what may or may not happen due to lack of competition for his place. Nothing more.

Agreed!

Yeah, by giving a normal reception. Why does he deserve a hero’s welcome for doing one of the worst things I’ve ever seen an Everton goalkeeper do in the 96th minute of a Merseyside Derby?

It’s called supporting your players.

It’s what, you know, football supporters do.

The way you and the other fella are going on you’d think all the big clubs treat their players like garbage. They don’t, they get behind them when it’s needed.
