2018/19 Jordan Pickford

Pickford isn't the problem imo. It's down to the club for not perusing a better second choice to provide legitimate competition for him. The biggest problem we've got over Pickford is that despite not playing very well in the two games following his derby howler he's still light years better on his worst day then Skekelenburg is on his best. He's under zero pressue to better himself and the only incentive he's got would be professional pride.

If we had two decent keepers we'd be able to drop one after a big mistake without it being a childish slight that would do more harm to us then to him as it would right now. It would mean they'd have to fight to improve, to EARN their starting position. There's no way we can justify dropping Pickford for Stek, he's as safe as house's and that's completely unacceptable. I like Pickford, I really rate him as a keeper but he needs pressure and competition to better himself and reach his full potential and we as a club need that even more.

The 2nd goal was a bit of a fluke. He might have gotten to it if he was on his toes, but I don't think anyone expected the ball to pop up like that. I'll give him a pass for that one.

This is bollocks sadly.

Hes a very motivated player, he doesnt need competition, I mean he enjoys playing for England, so I could argue he has to perform to keep his spot for them, but I wont, cos he doesnt need the motivation.

Best distributor in the game. Apparently.
I dont understand how statements like that gets any traction, but they do. I even hear commentator talking avout his great delivery, after him just belting every ball either out of play or to the wrong team. He’s for sure got it in him to got good balls to our forwards, but he seldom does.

Did we not signed a highly regarded young keeper in the summer?

Were in that post did I question his motivation? He obviously pushes himself to the max but it's done purely based on professional pride and respect for the club. You reckon he doesn't know that he's 100% safe as first choice? We all know that so he obviously does. Lack of competition is not healthy for any player.

Said exactly this last week and several posters tried to claim I was chatting wham.

Who was a brought in for the future. We need completion for Pickford now. Not because he's not a class keeper, because he is but because it's not healthy for a player to be guaranteed first choice with zero competition.

Nobody decent and in their prime is going to come here to sit behind England's number one. It just wouldn't happen.

They wouldn't want to fill in either as our fans would probably give them pelters for not being Lev Yashin after not playing in the first team for 3 months.

Tbf the only set of goalkeepers in the top 6 with genuine competition are Arsenals with Leno and Cech. The rest have a brilliant keeper and then the other guy.
