Pickford isn't the problem imo. It's down to the club for not perusing a better second choice to provide legitimate competition for him. The biggest problem we've got over Pickford is that despite not playing very well in the two games following his derby howler he's still light years better on his worst day then Skekelenburg is on his best. He's under zero pressue to better himself and the only incentive he's got would be professional pride.
If we had two decent keepers we'd be able to drop one after a big mistake without it being a childish slight that would do more harm to us then to him as it would right now. It would mean they'd have to fight to improve, to EARN their starting position. There's no way we can justify dropping Pickford for Stek, he's as safe as house's and that's completely unacceptable. I like Pickford, I really rate him as a keeper but he needs pressure and competition to better himself and reach his full potential and we as a club need that even more.
