2018/19 Jordan Pickford

Ben Foster is miles better than him at this moment in time. No way Pickford deserves to be in the next England squad.
He’s fortunate there isn’t a top class England keeper currently playing. To think there was a time when the England gk position was so strong even Nigel Martyn couldn’t get a look in.

Not just the gk position, the pool of England players to choose from is tiny in comparison to the past. One quality striker. Kane, previously it was Shearer, Sheringham, Owen, Fowler, Wright, Ferdinand, Cole etc playing at the same time...someone as class as Le Tissier couldn’t make the squad.

Being picked for England is no longer a barometer of ability. If you are English, play in the Premier League, today you have a real shot of making an England squad.

He needs to concentrate on being a goalkeeper rather then involving himself in more of the build up.

His concentration levels have dipped the more confident he becomes first example he is too busy trying to get a raise or applaud for supporter then focusing on his role.

I have no problems with him distribution but of late especially after his mistake against Them, it looks like he is trying to make amends for this error still.

He is rushing about trying to start plays and positional wise he is making simple mistakes look at Kane's [Poor language removed] in the first half when he hit the roof of the net, Pickford is all over the place but still overreacts with a "camera dive" but his positioning is inviting the shot.

Keepers like Southall or Martyn would have just watched that knowing they are in the wrong position and they are to blame should it go in.

Confidence is his game but when he feels pressure he retracts and teams can see that. He should be commanding his area but his stuck on his line the past 3 games, he should be communicating with his back four but he hasn't been as vocal, this isn't helped by changing the defence.

Get a clean sheet in him and let him refocus for the 2nd half of the season, his big moment will come believe me.
“He needs to concentrate”, unfortunately I don’t think he can. He’s comes across as being hyperactive, very fidgety, reminds me of Gazza.

His shot stopping is generally excellent (being smaller he does have reach issues ala Shay Given), he’s great at using his feet to block shots. but he has these moments where he makes impulsive decisions that lead to errors. I don’t think you can eradicate that, that’s in him.

Made two excellent saves from Trippier and Son. He also wasn’t helped by having next to no protection infront of him (the statue Keane in central defence alongside a Chelsea cast off, championship player Davies infront of them, the entire middle was wide open for the opposition to have a field day). He and Zouma were both at fault for the goal. Him for rushing out when he shouldn’t, and Zouma for not clearing the ball first ask questions later.

That was the final nail in the coffin, inflated his fat head so much he thinks he's a God

And I bet he has a relatively low-ish release clause in his new contract.

No doubt he came back from the World Cup with his head full of stories about playing for United, Spurs, City and the RS in the CL and believing himself far too good for Everton.

He probably thought “give it a season and I will replace De Gea next summer”.

And that is what I think his problem is.....in his entitled eyes he is just biding his time here and the hubris is causing him to lose focus.

This season is going to be massive for him personally in terms of confidence, and one he may never fully recover from. A few more of his game-turning mistakes, followed by losing his England place (which will happen), could easily turn him into a very expensive Richard Wright... and we've recently given him a bumper new deal.

In goalkeeper years he's still a young lad, and I'm hoping he can get his head out of his rear-end and turn things around for himself and the club. I feel getting a big money move to Everton, and being the number one choice keeper for England in a deceptively successful World Cup campaign, has inflated the lads' ego to heights in excess of his ability.

Proverbs 16:18
"Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall".

Sorry but his performance yesterday was unacceptable
His shot stopping is good except for the fact that saves need to be pushed to the side away from goal. That’s basic TBH
I’m afraid he will always have a problem as brain farts cannot be coached out.
Should have substituted him at HT as the game was practically over anyway.

I'd seriously consider playing Stekelenburg for a match or two regardless of my own concerns about his ability, as Pickford is beginning to look very fragile.

He's made a few fair mistakes of late which are ultimately costing us more and the first goal yesterday epitomises how his frailties are coming to the fore.

Firstly, Pickford shouldn't have been there so whether he shouted or not - nobody appeared to hear it - is negated, while I'm unsure why he didn't simply clear it.

If he did shout and Zouma was in the way, then why not simply put his foot through it? It's a catalogue of errors that allowed them to open the flood gates.

In the end, I still think he will be a very good goalkeeper so some of the obscene criticism on here are in my opinion unfair, but he does need to realise his position.

Valencia. We bought him for a reason.
