2018/19 Jordan Pickford

Well we don’t know what happened, we are all speculating. Personally I think Zouma ignores a shout, I base that on Pickford reaction to Zouma after it.

I assume most of us played orgamisied football. We all know if the keeper shouts for the ball you leave it for him. If he did and Zouma got in his way he’s at fault.

If Pickford didn’t shout for it, he’s wholly at fault.

Pickford went bald headed at Zoumq after it, so I assume he shouted. I don’t know for certain of course.

It’s very basic stuff.

Having played in goal for many a year, I would let my teammates know beforehand/show consistency during training that if I am out of position and I'm favourite to win the ball I would be clearing it. If I have to go through players to do so, so be it. Zouma probably could have hooked it away sooner but once that didn't happen and Pickford was in no man's land he has to follow through and whack it into row z.

This should all be worked out before the matches start.

That’s a fair point, there may not have been a need for him to be there and that decision could be questioned.

Fact is was though he was and if he gave the shout, the defender should have left it. That’s a basic thing in football, Keeper is the Alpha as he is the only one with a full view of the pitch.
Mate whether he gave a shout or not what the kin hel l is he doing there leave it to your centre back to deal with.

Correct mate, but that only applies if you have a brain that works.

He needs to concentrate on being a goalkeeper rather then involving himself in more of the build up.

His concentration levels have dipped the more confident he becomes first example he is too busy trying to get a raise or applaud for supporter then focusing on his role.

I have no problems with him distribution but of late especially after his mistake against Them, it looks like he is trying to make amends for this error still.

He is rushing about trying to start plays and positional wise he is making simple mistakes look at Kane's [Poor language removed] in the first half when he hit the roof of the net, Pickford is all over the place but still overreacts with a "camera dive" but his positioning is inviting the shot.

Keepers like Southall or Martyn would have just watched that knowing they are in the wrong position and they are to blame should it go in.

Confidence is his game but when he feels pressure he retracts and teams can see that. He should be commanding his area but his stuck on his line the past 3 games, he should be communicating with his back four but he hasn't been as vocal, this isn't helped by changing the defence.

Get a clean sheet in him and let him refocus for the 2nd half of the season, his big moment will come believe me.

Exactly you give the shout “Keepers”.

When you look at it back in slow motion, Pickford goes to strike the ball, he looses the flight off the ball because of Zouma impeded his vision and trajectory to make contact.

It’s his job to sweep mate, I presume he thought there was a danger Zouma wasn’t getting it, I’d wholly acknowledge that wasn’t the case and was a bad decision in hindsight to come.

But once comes and he shouts for it the defender should leave it, like I said I’m speculating, I don’t really know if he did shout or not, I would presume he did because it’s a basic thing. So on the balance of probabilities Zouma was at fault for that aspect. But your right maybe coming at at all wasn’t the right decision.

I’m certainly not absolving either or them from the clanger, just analysing.

I had my head in my hands after it happened so I didn't see it a lot, but wasn't the issue that both kept on stuttering? Once he was out there that far he had to keep moving, that would have given Zouma the information he needed to get out the way. Stay in your area or deal with it.

Zouma looked surprised when he saw Pickford he hesitated which basically incapacited him to that spot. Pickford was 3 quater way through his striking action to make contact with ball he was prepared to go through Zouma if necessary even, but Zouma blocker the ball from his field of vision and he lost the flight and trajectory of the ball.

Still young and the future for Everton and England between the sticks but he sure as something smelly and brown hasn't covered himself in glory these last 4 weeks. Head down now please Jordan and just focus on the simple things.

Ben Foster is miles better than him at this moment in time. No way Pickford deserves to be in the next England squad.
I figured I'd find stuff like this on here and I'm not disappointed.

Zouma is as much to blame as Pickford is. You can't have a one person miscommunication and that's what happened. And we got battered regardless. They were getting in behind far too easily before they scored.
