Made out to be by whom? I just reckon he is a good goalkeeper. Generally only top clubs have world class keepers. From the criticism he gets on here a neutral would think he was crap. Didn't someone earlier mention Steklenberg in the midst of a froth of anti Pickford comments? I have seen the fabulous world class top price keeper who plays for our dear neighbours make several cock ups this season. His critics are silent however. Maybe Pickford will never be forgiven or forgotten by some for the Liverpool fiasco for as long as he stands between the Everton sticks. Remember Sandy Brown OG?

I don't think it works like that.... I think the issue is some fans really have a hesitancy to apply the same levels of criticism that they would for players like tom cleverely for supposed golden boys like pickford....
Pickford because he got loads of hype after the world cup seems to have made himself immune in the eyes of some.

I wonder how many on here would include themselves in the "some" who regard him as immune (from criticism). I guess the answer is zero. Maybe someone in the world wide adoring media post World Cup might have said daft things about him. Pickford is OK. The campaign to blame him for everything should cease in my opinion.

People have made their minds up. I just can’t wait for us to get a new first choice keeper now. I almost guarantee he won’t be as good as Pickford, but I 100% guarantee he won’t get as much hate from our own fans.

I have mentioned Stek yes. Not because I want him. I gave my reasons why. And again to @ijjysmith ,a new keeper will of course get the same stick when deserved. I just don't get why it's so bad for some that Pickford gets stick when he does poor/crap/mistakes. A big problem is of course that he has no competition and can do whatever he wants. And that the others tolerate cock ups doesn't mean we should.

Agree with the need for competition. We’ve only ever really had one choice and thinking about it, most clubs don’t have that much true competition in nets.
And nobody is tolerating his cock ups. My opinion on him has changed dramatically for example.
He gets it way more than anyone else though. Which doesn’t seem right when every single player we have is underperforming. People make it sound like he never saves anything ever. It’s weird.

Don't think anyone could suggest he isn't a good shot stopper .The problem lies more with his indecision when the ball is put into the area. Difficult for defenders when they aren't sure if he's going to stay rooted to his line or come out to flap.

Pickford does not command his six yard box, hardly ever will he come to claim the ball or punch it clear...
We have conceded countless goals from corners & crosses this season & last season & Pickford stays rooted to the ground on nearly every occasion, he must start to command this area it is absolutely imperative he does this if he is to become a really great keeper...
Another keeper signing would give young Pickford competition & may help him improve on his weaknesses he so desperately needs to acknowledge...
