2018/19 Jordan Pickford

I'm responding to the overwhelming open attack on masculinity by the yabbering extreme feminists that are saturating the bbc and social media with their misandry.

Can this be substantiated?

Separately: Pickford was a fool but it’s not a huge deal if it’s not affecting his football

State of some of this thread. Essentially condoning fighting cause they dont like feminism. Ridiculous.

I've never had a fight in my life, was taught not to. Its unnecessary. It's not about "toxic masculinity" or "extreme feminism". If children are shown it is acceptable behaviour, they will grow up and copy it. Same as domestic abuse etc. Theres research and statistics to back this up.

Anyway. Back to Jordan pickford. He was foolish to rise to it and will be fined for it.

"Acting in a manner not befitting a professional sportsman?"

Its not like he is drunk on the pitch (it seems that way sometimes..)

He went out for a few drinks which is perfectly normal (not my kind of thing but whatever) and had a pathetic scrap that went nowhere.

The only reprimand he should get is a roll of the eyes when he turns up to training.
My 8 year old thinks he is great - he's a role model to him. He does have a duty to behave in public even if that part was never made clear to him back when he was entering the world of sports. It's just one of those things.

If he was a lad in the office or factory, it'd probably get that role of the eyes and hopefully he'd grow out of it. Alas, he is an Everton player, and this stuff makes the news. He's harmed his worth as an Everton asset, which is a concern to me as an Everton supporter.

Give it half a dozen clean sheets and it'll all be forgotten I hope.

He is a role model on the pitch certainly, but why would an 8 year old even be able to watch Pickford fighting on social media?

I don't really get role models in general though, I mean role models are human, all humans can be horrible at times so its a very dangerous thing to show such faith in people.

I don't think it alters his worth as an asset at all. It's not like he has done an Adam Johnson.

Spot on with the clean sheets thing. This type of thing gets heightened when the player is having a bad time of things on the pitch.

Ok but when's he supposed to be training again? How long does it take for a body to recover from alcohol abuse? He's supposed to be a professional athlete ffs.

He is a goalie. As long as he doesn't break his wrist punching someone he will be fine.

Nobody knows what he has had to drink anyway.

to be honest I can see how he could have got wound up, if someone brings your fiancé into it and you've had a beer or 2 then I don't blame him for sticking up for her. The problem is tho is that he shouldn't put himself in these situations, he's a professional football player, people are going to wind you up, unfortunately you cant be hanging around pubs with the general public, its just asking for trouble,
If youre going to go out drinking you go to the exclusive places that Joe Public either cant afford or cant go in.
If he was watching the Sunderland game why didn't he have ppl over to his or one of his mates houses to watch it or better still go to the game and get a VIP box. Its the price u have to pay for being in the public eye and also why I would hate to be famous......rich yeah but not famous.

4 clean sheets in last 5 games and 4th most in the league I think

Clean sheets and letting in goals are slightly different (as stupid as that sounds...) A goalie could keep 20 clean sheets in a season, but if he is making howlers that cost points in the other 18 games then he is still doing badly...

We have deffo improved as of late though no doubt.

That's all.

I'm not condoning violence, its a brutish unsophisticated act an Pivkford showed considerable lack of brain cells by getting involved (or had just had a few). However a scuffle amongst men its not such a big thing, then it's over. It tends to be made an event out of all proportion by the said media.
