He's a good GK. I'm happy enough we have him. But I dont think we should handle this lad with kid gloves. He's an England international and showed a lot of focus and determination in the World Cup. If he thinks he has to produce anything less than that for us he can GTF - and I wouldn't be arsed about it happening.
strawman (1).webp

The little step to the left didn't help either, infact that could have been why he didn't save it.

He's a young keeper with bags of talent and potential, he's not the finished article yet and our fans need to remember that.

A mistake certainly, but nobody charged the ball either to make it more difficult for Neves...
A young keeper who must learn from his mistakes & play for the team....
I like him but he is far from the finished article imo....

I think he messed up the FK which was already a shambles anyway.

His kicking was atrocious again mind.

Other than that was solid, saved a good one on one
Poor yesterday. I think it would be far more effective for him to go short 90% of the time, then when he does need to go long it comes as a surprise to the opposition.

There should be a determination for continuous improvement in every player and he needs to work on eliminating these errors.

I think our gk coach has work to do on his decision making

Michael Keane shows no confidence and he's a coward and mentally weak.
Pickford shows confidence despite a mistake and he's acting 'billy big bollocks'

I have no idea why as a fan base we hate our own players.
How is hate being confused by you with legitimate criticism?

Think he gets unsettled having nothing to do and goes a bit mental as a result when he does.
Good keeper just needs to keep calm and keep improving his decision making

I wouldn't criticize him for the free kick. He was awful with the ball at his feet though. That's where I was disappointed, I understand he's a keeper and he has a better weak foot than I do. However, he was indecisive with the ball on his foot and booted it out of bounds way too much for my liking. The game now, in my opinion, requires a keeper who can play with the ball on the ground to an extent. It's just the way it has evolved.

I will say though, the back 4 did him no favors when they played back to him in my opinion. Just bad, slow, telegraphed passes so he had an attacker coming at him full steam. So perhaps it was exaggerated in that game.

He was trying to go short but Gana and Schneiderlin weren't giving him an option. When we went to 10 it was harder.

Criticism is absolutely fair, of any player, but please don't ignore other factors.

It's why getting a player who is actually willing to get on the ball in midfield, plus some defenders able to do that as well, was so important. Our whole team will improve when those players are settled and in the side.
