2019/20 Jordan Pickford

Ben Foster on a short term deal for me. There’s no Euros this year for Pickford to undergo the realisation that he’s lost his precious England job which I think has given him a god complex so there’s no motivation from that. Someone like Foster coming in and getting played for the first 5-10 games of the season straight off the bat and also in the cup games would test Pickford’s mettle and actually see if he can back from actual adversity (not just from chucking the ball in his net like usual). Foster would also be far less risky than playing Virginia or someone and isn’t going to cost much.

If Pickford steps it up then great and if not we absolutely know he’s done for and we will have given ourselves time to get his name out there and some replacements drawn up.

Less convinced by Foster personally, but agree with the broader point.

Never the long term answer obviously but provides actual competition. I think Pickford absolutely knows he’s in an untouchable position right now and I’d be very interested to see how his ego reacts to not necessarily being the big dog. 6 years off a single season though, Christ.

There must be several decent quality 6ft 9" goalkeepers in the Championship who would love to come here. Decent quality is good enough, only the big clubs in the CL get the bes.t

I'd rather have the actual Pope in net than Pickford on current form

could be worse...

Kepa - the worlds most expensive goal keeper of all time......

- He has the worst save percentage in Premier League history (to play 10+ games), with 54.5%. 730th place.

- He has conceded 8% of Chelsea’s Premier League goals since 1992 in 2 years.

- For 14/47 goals conceded this season, he didn’t move (30%).

Here's one for the stattos.

Expected goals from shots on target vs actual conceded goals. (number of saves is more of a measure how busy he is rather than ability.

Statistically he's the worst keeper outside the top six. (let in alnost 8 goals more than expected based on placement and starting position)

The talk os Chelsea wanting him may not be too crazy, Kepa was - 11.2

Problem with that is it makes someone like Roberto (West Ham) look half decent and he is shocking.

I'm not really a big fan of the blunt tool of stats in judging a player but that doesn't look good for the lad. You can see why they were playing that arl bald fella instead.

You can almost imagine after he's cocked - up Pickford looking over at the bench and saying to himself " Nothing over there for me too worry about"

Foster has made some absolute howlers from what i have seen this season. Just replacing an older version of pickford.
Surely do better than foster.
