Is the defence a problem because of the GK? I think a solid GK like Pope behind them, for instance, gives the back 4 a lot of confidence.

I think we will not know if our defenders can cope until you give them a goalkeeper they have confidence in and a midfield that can screen them and hold the ball to give them a break. I would hate to be in our back four, you are concerned about the keeper behind you and you can’t relax when our midfielders have the ball because they will give it away and you are back under pressure.

How can a GK who is guaranteed to let us down each game not be THE priority in getting shut of and replacing?

Yes but the pressing concern is 2 cm definitely. I want a new keeper but that will be a loan if we do get one. If we can’t get one I will even try Lossl there.

I'd be happy at recouping the £30M spent. When all is said and done, he's the England No1. A buyer could be found if a decision was made. Pope is being quoted at £50M.

...I know you think it’s easy to move players on for decent money, but I really can’t see a club paying £30m for Pickford at this point in time. His form and level of consistency would have to significantly improve.

Hold on, you're telling me we have to put up with this divvy for another 12 months at least?

No. Not for me. Ancelotti has worked with great GKs and knows how crucial they are.

If he doesn't act to replace Pickford, then I'll have my suspicions that he's here just to pick up his massive wages.

Carlo's with the angels now.

....I’m not convinced about joining the Pope fan club. Increasing hype is pushing up his profile and price. Too many shots pushed into dangerous areas, surely there’s much better out there for significantly lesser outlay.

Which underlines just why he cant be allowed to stay here.

We know how atrocious he is, but there will be clubs out there with cash who will see an England No1 as a player they can add to their squad and (they;d believe) improve.

Dont underestimate just how crazy this PL is for throwing cash at players.

I honestly don't think I've ever disliked one of our players more. Need to cash in on this idiot ASAP. When Lossl came on yesterday it was the first time in a long time I felt calm. Get the rave o̶n̶ out.

Didnt see the game, he looked steady did he? Thats always a decent sign in a keeper.

...I really don’t think a club will pay £30m for Pickford, regardless of him being England’s no1.

The trick for any DoF is moving the unwanted on when their stock is high. It takes courage to do so, but cashing in on Pickford after he impressed in the World Cup was the way to go. Back your judgement.

I know you feel a DoF should get top dollar for all our surplus stock, but it doesn’t work that way. It seems Keane is getting talked up, I’d certainly move him on now.

'Cashing in on' is the wrong term. We are in a situation where it's a matter of 'get rid of'.

I'm resigned to keeping him. However, we need him on the bench. He cant be No1 this season. If he is then this will be another midtable season. A solid GK is required to get top 6/7.

Thats right Dave if Pickford can' t sort himself out, but who?
