How many people on here are willing to bury their dislike of Pickford for a short while and vote him a special award for the (hopeful) damage he has caused our neighbours. I am struggling to put a name to such an award, and it can't be money because he is rich like all of them. The award should be on TV outside the Liver Buildings,

He lives for an entire national and almost global witch hunt accusing him of being an malicious and aggressive human being because he collided with a player during a game of football? He lives for him and his family receiving death threats? Okay mate.

The lad is human being like the rest of us, he’s a footballer and he earns loads of money but to say you don’t see how it hurts him is a bit strange, is he immune from the mental anxiety each and everyone of us suffer from on a daily basis? Only his on a grander scale given the whole country is writing stories about him being an aggressive and malicious person who sets out to intentionally injure players and he’s fearing for his and his girlfriends life?

Give over.
That's OTT. It's not a witch hunt if you actually did what it is that you are accused of doing. A witch hunt is where people are looking for something that doesn't exist.

He's taken a lot of stick for his performances.
To turn it round he would have had to have had about 5+ games where he was error free and pulled off some top saves.
Immediately after the game, I imagine he would still be in for some stick off us (poor challenge and could/should have seen red).
However, the media circus witch hunt and moaning has probably done more to get us on Pickford's side than anything.

He’s accused of intentionally taking out a player to assault and injure them. He didn’t do that. It’s a witch-hunt. What you’re looking for doesn’t exist. Let it go and move on. Injuries are part of football, these incidents happen every other game but fortunately players come away injury free, on this occasion they didn’t, thats football. It’s not worth death threats and demonisation from an entire countries media. Not gonna mend VVDs leg or bring him back this season is it?

I don't think he is being accused of that. They are saying his tackle was unnecessarily reckless, not that he intentionally did it to injure. I don't think anybody believes it was intentional.

They are saying the likelihood of causing an injury by the way he made that tackle was high, not that it was intentional.

Have you had your hand in the sand mate?

That’s exactly what he’s being accused of and why so many like myself are standing up for him. The terms ‘malicious’ ‘assault’ ‘intentional’ have been branded around by every media outlet, every pundit to every journalist. They want him banned, some suggesting for as long as VVD is injured for? How isn’t that a witch hunt?

The truth is the lad is injured and it’s unfortunate, these things happen in football. It’s a contact sport. If they don’t like that then appeal to change the rules. We’ve had our fair share of major injuries over the last 5 years or so and we’ve just had to get on with it. There’s been no witch hunts or demonisation of certain players from the media. Nothing is bringing their player back this season and no ban or any other justification is gonna do that, they just need to suck it up and get on with it like every other club does.

If anyone form the club monitors these forums.
Come on Everton, get a club statement released, the lad is being hung out to dry and your doing nothing to protect him, he has had personal threats and been made to look like the Yorkshire Rippers nastier brother.
Enough is enough here, show some balls and defend your player.
If this incident had happened during an international game between England and Holland, there is no way this would have been allowed to carry on in the press.

A goalie has the right to "defend his timbers" as I once heard an old Charlton fan shout at The Valley!

But it was a horrible challenge and no one surely wants to see a man injured badly.
