He either gets the desired response (a lift in performance) or he struggles again at which point he has every right to make Olsen the new number one.

This is a good man management style, that would ripple through the squad. You got your chance, you didn't perform, don't complain that you're now on the bench.

Ya it seems like carlo operates like that. Look at davis last season. Starts every game. Given chance after chance and then bang. Replaced. And no more game time.

Anybody is capable of the odd reaction save now and again. One of those every few weeks is not the mark of a good goalkeeper.

There is no reason based on the evidence of the this season and last to expect Pickford to make both those saves. In fact it was literally a week earlier when he didn't make a save of that nature vs Ward-Prowse.

He's got every right to make Olsen his number 1 now though, so i'm not sure what difference you're suggesting that makes? Pickford's played about 30 games under Ancelotti, he can hardly say he hasn't had a chance before saturday. It sounds like just trying to make it into a positive really.

this is absolutely spot on. Worst shot stopper in the league for the last two years & anyone who says "what about the wonder saves" the majority of these look spectacular, but only because of poor footwork.

If you look at the likes of Petr Cech or Alison they make the great saves look relatively straight forward because they have the basics rights, feet in a good position, weight in the right place & using the correct hand
