2020/21 Jordan Pickford

He may have had a slight push but why on earth is he trying to catch it? The ball was sailing out of play clear as day
That was the real issue in that incident. What Pickford was supposed to have done (*wildly kicking out* at Maguire) was a BS accusation that came about purely because Liverpool made a song and dance of the Van Dijk incident with him, and the media are like Pavlov's dog in response to the murderers' every complaint and have gone after him ever since.

But Pickford yesterday showed yet again how much he isn't fit to be in goal when he failed to be composed enough to realise the dimensions of his own 18 yard box - when it's right to go for the ball, and when it's not.

He is a fundamentally flawed GK and his career at the top has been carved out by two monumental mistakes: 1/ Everton promoting him from Sunderland (a level where even there he was poor...the "if it wasn't for Pickford it'd have been 9-0 for the opposition rather than 5-0" plaudits he got there were incredibly stupid), and 2/ Southgate handing him the England jersey and sticking with him because his clown like performances somehow managed to keep the ball out the England net in a couple of WC games two years ago...but who's subsequently stunk for them too.

Not only dont I see a future for Pickford at Everton, I dont see him playing in goal for any top flight club after he leaves us. I say without hesitation he is the worst long term Everton GK I've ever seen. And there's not even a hint of exaggeration in that statement. I EXPECT Ancelotti to right the wrong of the club employing him in January or he too will come into disrepute in my estimation.

It's just beyond it for me now.

You did see Paul Gerrard play right?

Gerrard was Pickford without the shot stopping ability!
Gerrard was also with Everton years longer than Pickord and played less games than him...because the club back then were wise enough to face reality and punt a failing GK out on loan for years.

What I first felt was a quirk - full length dives when a shot is flying well wide - has actually become his major flaw.

It’s his need to be involved in the game. We saw it yesterday when Fernandes hit a free kick miles over the bar and Pickford leapt up as high as he could.

That’s ok but when he’s clawing Van Dijks slice back into play or rushing out crippling the same player, it’s a major problem. When he has to make a decision rather than rely on instinct, he makes the wrong one far too often.

Will be amazed if he ends the season as number one.

That was hilarious, I rewound that 4 times to rewatch and couldn’t stop laughing.

That free kick was always going a mile over and he still jumped up and dived back. He just loves flinging himself about, like a child high on sugar.
