I think he's been fine of late. Played well well and the save onto the post was fantastic. Probably could have done better with 1 piunch he had, but overall he has been much better.
Totally agree no problems with Pickford the last few games whether he can keep it up and be more consistent is another matter. If he had made that mistake Mendy did he would have been crucified .

I think the telling moment in the game for how the players view Pickford is when he came rushing out and punched the ball with his left fist, I think it went to Mount who put it narrowly over the bar, they appeared to be in shock. None of them went back on the line as you would expect a defender to do as cover, I think they were dumbfounded.
In a game where everyone else was disciplined his antics stood out as reckless.

If you was a defender you'd never feel at ease with him in goal you will always have a little worry in your mind if he might do something and when you're trying to concentrate on the striker or other things around you that can't be good for your game, He has to be replaced this summer it should be the #1 priority.

He's erratic. Simple as that. If people think a keeper who makes 2 great saves a game but throws in 2 howlers is ok then I have to beg to differ.

I'd sooner take a keeper that inspires confidence in the defence and he doesn't.

Got to go with that. Thing is the saves are natural. As much as goalkeepers are there to make saves im not taking that away from him. Pulls off some top ones.
The errors. Oh the errors. The free kick yesterday. Its not the first time hes done that. Line up the wall to protect one side. Then as player is about to hit it go towards the effing side you've just lined the wall up for. Scramble back to the side that was yours and finding out you cant get there. Its annoying because thats not natural. Thats concentration. If the ball goes over the wall into the top corner then fair enough. Gotta just say great free kick and not keepers fault.
If that went in off the post yesterday this forum is very different today.
Its been said before and i tend to agree that the twitcheness is in his character. Fine if you're my postman. Dont really want that in a goalkeeper of the team i support.

And that for me is th problem. He has 1 or 2 clangers every game. He made a good save yesterday. But he needs consistency if he is going to get better. As someone said earlier he needs to be the centre of attraction. Until he sorts that he will just be a very average keeper
Unfortunately, every keeper in the league is average at best then.

Very nearly undone all the hard work by literally steaming out for a ball that 9 times out of 10 our defender's would have easily lapped up.

It was an appalling decision and I just can't defend him for making such a strange rash decision. It was 12 yards out with 3 defenders more than capable of dealing with it.

He isnt good enough yes...

But why keep lumping on the lad when Brands/Ancelotti knew his obvious weaknesses yet waited until deadline day to bother to try bring in a keeper?

Romero or Martinez should have been one of the first in the door in the summer. The fact they wasn't isnt Pickford's fault and Carlo obviously doesn't rate the bloke we brought in on loan who was bombed out of Roma for also being somewhat of a calamity.

That's the life of a keeper I'm sorry. Outfield players can make mistakes and are able to redeem themselves.
Keepers don't have that luxury.

It's the frequency, type of errors and cause of them which is the concern.

This isn't a Vendetta .... The only consistent thing we see from Pickford is that he can't hold 90 minutes together regularly. His concentration and decision making is as poor as I've seen in any footballer let alone keeper.

We tried to get Romero.... Man United will not do business with us because of some grumbles over cleverly or something.

If one or two clangers a game means you're an average keeper, then there are no good keepers in this league. Watch other keepers, will make you feel a lot better about Pickford.
