I think it arrogance. It looks like he trys to make world class saves out of shots he can just smother with a simple step to the left or right.

With the shot he messed up on he moves the other way to where the ball is going. Was he trying to pre-emt a deflection or giving him self room to do a camera save.

Would de gea ederson mendy Leno alisson etc have done that. Can't see it myself.

my take on this is it all comes down to poor fundamentals. His positioning and balance is poor and thus he makes the average save look extraordinary and it’s why his save % has been so low for so long.

add that to the poor mentality and decision making, you have a dreadful keeper and that’s what we have in JP

Carlo will ruin his Everton legacy on Pickford. Imagine we miss out on top 4 end of season by a few points... Pickford alone with his needless mistakes will have cost us at least that many points, likely quite a few more.

Let's face it - all goalies have a mistake in them. Our Pickford definitely has. But he also makes incredible saves. So maybe it evens out, ye ken?

Dropping him for tomorrow could destroy his confidence , but playing tomorrow and letting him sit on the bench midweek will give him the message that he is under pressure without the headlines that leaving him out tomorrow would generate.

He’s destroyed the confidence of everyone in him. Guy has had enough chances. Let’s start prioritizing results eh?

Hasn’t he had enough messages that he’s under pressure? His form has nothing to do with him thinking he’s not under pressure, it’s due to him being an awful goalkeeper. He isn’t going to change that now.
