Look at the effect the mistakes had on our overall game in the second half.
I think his errors and the seeming regularity of them could cause us issues this year, not just in the chances / goals we concede but also the effect on the confidence of the rest of the team.
He can't last much longer tbh.
Fact he had the 2nd worst save % in the league last year tells me otherwise, in fact pretty much every metric you can use tells us he’s absolutely crapI do think that despite his penchant for occasional mistakes that Pickford is still a very good keeper.
Even when he makes a mistake his overall performance will usually be good and he can make outstanding saves and does so regularly, something that gets overlooked in the rush to pillory him and paint him as some second rate keeper. He isn’t.
The problem is whether his lapses will be too costly for us , or whether they can be coached out of him.
Certainly many of the aged and journeyman keepers mooted as a cheap alternative are simply not good enough. Whilst they may not make his costly slips , they will also concede many where Pickford would have saved.
If we were to replace him it would have to be someone of the quality of Pope who is a better goalie at this point. If we can’t find that quality at present we should persevere with Pickford and perhaps hope that Virginia can fulfil his potential in the near future.
That would be my preference any rate.

Definitely , in my view.
I think that there is tendency for criticism of any player to become overblown with people concentrating on finding witty insults and displaying their(self)righteous dismay rather than a level headed assessment of the player. It’s mob culture and I do not excuse myself from it at times either.
Regardless , personally I think he remains an outstanding goalkeeper but one who displays occasional costly lapses of judgement.
I understand the urge to replace him but not to replace him with a lesser keeper who may not make the mistakes but also may not make the saves.

too late. we have got a great squad now, can't afford him as the GK. He will sabotage the team, now and then.Suppose he’s statistically the worst first choice keeper in the league now, with Mendy signing. Marcel and Carlo will be aware, he’ll be replaced next summer.
Accept the loss and sell him. It’s going to have a negative bearing on results if this guy is still in goal next season.
If your view of him were accurate he would not have become the national keeper.Sorry mate I can't agree with you. A lot of the saves he makes and most keepers make on a regular basis are routine saves that you would expect keepers of his standing to make anyway. One outstanding save every blue moon does not make up for the amount of goals he's cost us with either basic or outragous mistakes. I've said it on here before, the best keepers are the ones that get the basics right 90% pf the time. The instinctive saves come naturally to most of them. You see it in the lower leagues every week.
My eyes mainly.Outstanding keeper? Really? Based on what?
His form since that Derby has been up and down but his form since lock down has been a disgrace and hes been without doubt the worst keeper in the league
My eyes mainly.
Do you have the statistics that prove him to be the ‘worst keeper in the league’ or is that just reductionist hyperbole?
