There really is one constant when you analyse Pickford's performances, especially when using stats rather than your, eyes along with a rudimentary understanding of football. That is, he plays behind a shambolic defence and a non existent midfield, therefore,he has to be far more involved in the game than many keepers who play for functional teams.

I'm not saying Pickford is great, but, he is far from being one of our biggest problems. I am not really a fan of his, but, this season, there is a case for saying he could be our player of the season. He is probably not top 4 level, but, he is far better than most of his team mates, also, he is just about getting to the age when a keeper comes into his own. His physical limitations, not being big enough for the premier league, will always hold him back, but, while he isn't top 4 level, he is certainly at a good enough level for this current Everton team.

Should we, by some miracle, stay up, Pickford is probably a long way down the list of players that we should replace. If we go down, he is one of our more sellable assets. Seriously lads, he is the least of our problems.

If anyone is willing to pay similar money for him as we did, we absolutely should sell him. If his supporters say variables of ‘i know hes not great’, he is obviously not great. I know some are extra attached to him because of Englands performances in the cups, but thats irrelevant to Everton. For us, he is mediocre. Some great games, some terrible, some okay. The definition of average. 25m for any average player is something we need to jump on as our financals are terrible and he is far from the best keeper you can get for that kind of money.

I'm not wrong though mate, maybe it will take a real keeper coming in somewhere down the line to see it, I don't know, but one day it'll be obvious.

I’m not saying he is peak southall, im saying he is having a good season and playing well, especially given the circumstances. You just keep saying he is not

Who are these ‘real keepers’? Genuine question

Alisson - terrible with his feet, has given goals away in big games through his poor distribution and has a weakness with the shot across the goal

Loris - even more erratic than Pickford

De Gea - wildly inconsistent, has always been weak on the near post

Schmeichal - weak on the near post and under his body

Ramsdale - pretty much terrible at everything apart from the odd save for the cameras

If I have to pick a keeper for an imaginary game tomorrow I'm picking Ederson, Alisson, De Gea, Lloris, Sa, Fabianski, Areola, Mendy, Sanchez and Dubravka over Pickford without thinking very hard about it because I'm confident they'll save more shots.

This is just pure opinion not based on form though. I mean Areola can’t even get a game for West Ham. Dubravka was being kept out the team by Karl Darlow earlier this season. I could go through all of them and pick bigger holes on their consistency than someone could say about Pickford this season why you’ll just repeat the line that you’ll think they’ll save more shots, based on what? Like I said Ederson seems to concede from every shot City give up.

Pickford is in good form, and is a good keeper, you don’t do what he’s done for England at that highest level if you’re not. You just don’t like him.

He's too small. Not his fault but he absolutely has to start commanding his 6 yard box. Our defenders are too weak and we are always going to concede from set pieces - or long throws as a result. Only Pickford can change this as it's clear our defence cannot. Step up Jordan. Quickly.

It does but I think you've missed what I'm saying which is Grealish is way better than Richarlison.

There is basically a top 8 this year with a gap to 9. Richarlison could maybe get onto the bench for a few of them, but realistically he's not an automatic starter for any. Pickford competes with Ramsdale but he's not playing for anyone else. He doesn't get on West Ham's bench unless they're playing a Carlo two keepers lineup.

One key to fixing this mess is going to be properly evaluating how bad it is.

And your missing my point, Richarlison would get games for every team in the league. He wouldn't start, but he's better than some of their squad players.

I disagree. City, the RS and Chelsea are a class above every single one of our players. Keeper especially.
