Seems to be another one of these every 10 minutes.

Has there ever been another England player the media has hated as much as Pickford? lol

Pickford doesn't get much love, but none of the England players ever really do IMO

I don't know if you've seen the Gazza doc recently on BBC, but Pickford's treatment by the media is like the highest praise in comparison

off the top of my head, also Sterling much, much worse. And personal too

The both-posts recovery save was something else. He didn’t just reach for it, he was so reactive he’d almost ran through the far post by the time he made the save.
Looking at that save ,and all the debate about him being to small. If he had been 6ft6 he would never have got up to make the second save, and as my wife says size doesn't matter ,and she would't tell lie's.

….it has to be part of the strategy to keep your best players but you should cash-in your sellable assets if the price is right. I think Pickford is a sellable asset.
He is, but he's also a good performer in a team which will be needing those as we'd be in a serious rebuild. I get the shouts for the Pompey/City lad, but we have a solid keeper, we should try to keep him, unless we have 2 other options.

…defining a ‘sellable asset’ as players who will bring in the most income that will least weaken the squad.

If we have to sell to rebuild and I believe our most sellable assets are Pickford, DCL & Mina. A goalkeeper should be replaceable at a fraction of what Pickford brings in.

This time last season I’d have suggested DCL was unsellable but we have to be hard-nosed about players with serious big leg muscle injuries that are likely to impact a whole career. Mina is our best CB but can’t put a string of games together.

I agree with this. I’m a big Pickford Fan but if we get good offers for him, it’d be an easier position to suitably replace for next to nothing in my opinion whilst helping to balance books.

Our England players always seem to get grief. The media swirl around Baines saying he missed his family when he was away. He got dropped after that didn't he?

But keepers always get a rough ride in the media as its a specialist position. Look at Hart.

And if pickford was dropped, one bad game by his replacement and the media would be all over that he shouldn't have been and having a go at Southgate.

Phil Jagielka.
Leighton Baines as well. The media highlighted both after a tournament (I think it was a tournamen?) exit when Gerrard was constantly playing 80 yard diagonal balls straight out of play, can’t remember who it was against now. The kopite-loving media were just as rancid back then and went straight after the Everton duo when it was a lack of goals and midfield which was far more pertinent.

Pickford is far better than any of the other options for England, it’s not even close which is why he keeps getting the nod from Southgate for any game of importance. Pope plays like he has serving spoons strapped to his feet and Ramsdale is exactly like Pickford after 10 red bulls, his kicking is also shocking.
