Sorry to stick my nose in but I noticed something in the game and wondered if there was any merit to it.

From watch Pickford I get the sense that he has quite a manic personality, at least on the football pitch. He always seems to be screaming or darting about here, there and everywhere. Could that maybe create panic in an already fragile defence? I can't remember what minute it was exactly but it was certainly in the opening stages of today's game and he had a goal kick. A defender came deep to offer him a short option and he seemed to go mental at him to get forward. Just seemed a bit overkill and not the calm head that is needed in your current plight.

I think he's a decent keeper with some obvious flaws but as a neutral fan it just struck me as something I'm not sure I'd wanna see from my keeper. Although my keeper can't catch a cross to save his life lol

Doesn't seem to affect England though.

On the other hand Begovic played Newcastle and we defended well and kept a rare clean sheet.

True. I might be way off with that observation. I just find him exhausting to watch lol
No mate, its been noted on here a lot that he can seem on edge. He's actually been an awful lot better this last 18mths in that regard in terms of his own performances.

Ancelotti took him out of the firing line for a while and he came back less manic and more focused. Prior he'd be a mistake waiting to happen.

Interesting question the effect on his defence.

The point is that we're sat here going "well it's a belter" basically every other week. It isn't about saving all of them, it is about saving some, and he doesn't.
Are you saying he doesn’t save the ones that go in, because just so you know, no keeper saves the ones that are goals. A quick google tells me that with 89 saves he’s made the 5th most amount of saves in the league this year.

He’s genuinely the least of our problems.

Hes just not tall enough to be a commanding goalkeeper. He's a great shot stopper but he is an erratic decision maker and doesn't command his area well.

Today had nothing to do with him. But we really need a keeper who can take the pressure off our abysmal defence.

He's genuinely not. Below average players are below average players and we should look to improve them all.

Bizarre people are talking about him after that game. Free kick was basically unsaveable, he did well with what he had to deal with and his distribution was great.

Why does he always allow a whole side of the goal to shoot out from free kicks them can't get to the ball? He's done it multiple times this sradon
my thoughts too. i couldn't understand why he left so much space that side. while the free kick may have been unstoppable, it gave cresswell more space to aim at and more ground for picko to cover.
